University of Florida 2025 — Regular Decision

My twins got in for summer. One will be 3 credits short of an AA when he graduates high school with straight A’s, the other has 30 some DE credits. They both have AP credits, and both have taken DE classes for 2 summers already (13 and 9 summer credits respectively). We were hoping we could get summer waived given all their DE. The plan was for them to work this summer to save money for expenses and to maybe try to take a family trip to celebrate as my oldest is graduating college in April.
Do they call or email to ask to be re-considered for fall admission?

@wlehockey You are the best! I am so happy our paths have crossed. Fingers crossed for both of our kids!

Amen. You don’t even want to know what I have been up to this morning. Will FB message you later. Hopes that this week is what we expect

Accepted into the PaCE program for business

Instate, 1240 SAT, 5.04 GPA, top 15% of class, 8 Aps

ECS include being president of 2 clubs (one being a social justice club I created), Editor in Chief of School Newspaper, created my own business as well as a design business with over 600 products sold and having 400 service hours

Disappointed that I got into PaCE so UF is not as high on my list anymore.

I don’t know all the details but I do know you become officially admitted to UF the spring of your freshman year if you get good enough grades at Santa Fe. I’m honestly glad this is what I was offered because you pay less in tuition your first year, which is really important to me since I’m also OOS. The major downside is that you aren’t a UF student your first semester so you can’t get housing or use some of the UF facilities. I’m going to continue to look further into it to determine if it’s the right thing for me and I encourage you and your son to do the same.

Also I should mention that while you are UF student after your first semester, you still take mainly Santa Fe classes until your finished with the program.

Congrats on the admissions.
They would fill out the Contact us form and select term change request.

Thank you for the info. How difficult is it to get the term changed and can the summer term be done online if not possible, particularly if classes are going to be remote anyway

The current plan is not for summer to be remote (that of course is subject to change). How difficult the term change request is depends on a number of factors including the reason for the request, students from fall wanting to move to summer, and how close we are to hitting our yield number.

Perfect. Thank you so much. You have been incredibly helpful. We will review the form and complete it if necessary. Looking forward to visiting the school

Does the UF course catalog list all non-covid online classes offered by UF? If not, is there a list/web page that we can reference? I am particularly interested in seeing which CS/ Computer engineering and biology courses are required to be done online. I know we may have to look at pre-covid literature.

So sorry. I don’t see any rhyme or reason; my OOS D was admitted with very similar stats.

Thanks so much for answering a lot of the questions on this thread!! Quick question – if we NMFs designate UF as our first choice school by the May deadline, when will we officially receive our financial aid letter with the Benacquisto scholarship? I’m asking because the NMSC site says that 3/1 is the priority date for first-choice.

Accepted NMF, does anyone know what happens if the government cuts funding for the Benacquisto? I have read (not verified) that UF is the only school that hasn’t guaranteed funding to NMFs in the event Benacquisto is cut. Could be in trouble if I lose the scholarship, so I would really appreciate any insight. Thank you.

What I’ve learned from the college process is, it is somewhat random. If you apply widely enough (my D did 6)- you’ll hopefully find at least one good home which offers the best value in terms of program. It’s weird when your kid is given a higher rank at one school and a lower one at another school compared to a friend. We are finding so many of these. Friend gets major yours doesn’t but yours gets special honors. Friend gets scholarship yours doesn’t etc. Though this is random, getting that coveted special scholarship or program or direct admit major may make the difference between where you go. At the end of the day, I truly believe it’s more the student than the school anyway. Good luck everyone!

If you look at info on UF on YouTube you’ll probably find a guy called Kevin’s Chat Room. He’s amazing in the videos and was rejected from a lot schools. Florida is super lucky to have him. He’s done a much better tour than many of the “professional ones” put out by the colleges and he’s an engineering major too.

Thanks again for being on here with all the answers. I too have twins and am in the same boat as @momoftwinsfl and while mine are thrilled to be Gators starting this summer will represent a real hardship for us. We will submit the term change request. How long does it take to get an answer typically? As while they would be heartbroken to not go to UF we will need to make some very hard decisions very soon if they cant get into Fall instead.

The schedule of courses for summer and fall comes out March 12th. So you can see it then.

We try to let people know as soon as possible but it can go to late April/early May

We usually get our first list about a week after the priority deadline and start coding as soon as we can. And then update with every subsequent list.

Although the plan is to not be remote only for summer could Summer B kids take online only classes if they couldn’t be on campus and their term change requests were denied? Would that be an option?
