University of Florida 2025 — Regular Decision

Just to be clear, even if/when the Benacquisto goes away for students initially enrolled in the fall of 2021, they will be exempt from paying OOS tutition

My teen got a merit scholarship email today! We’re OOS.

For those with Benacquisto, did you get an update in your portal with the Benacquisto scholarship?

I am NMF and have had UF as first choice since January. Is it not supposed to be there yet?

I hope more scholarships go out tomorrow. I realize it’s unlikely - but one can dream

My son didn’t get merit either. We are planning spring break campus visits without UF at this point. I was hoping UGA would issue all merit by now, but they said it would be after they get all the RD decisions out on the 19th.

Desperately want a term change for my daughter from Fall to Summer. The wait is the worst since she cant really look for a roommate. Really hoping to hear this week. Seems like most people that want a term chance want summer to fall.

No merit here. D is going to need to investigate more and think long and hard about the fit (and things like dated dorms and online business classes) and decide whether UF’s ranking justifies almost double the price tag.

No merit here as well for my D… will have a to really think if UF is worth the cost given they she received OOS tuition waiver at FSU and honors as well…

Hi! I’m a prospective student for UF, and qualify for Benaquisto. I recently got accepted to the University of Florida! However, there was nothing regarding the Benaquisto scholarship in my admission letter, and I made a Gator ID, but there was nothing in my financial aid section yet either. I am a national merit finalist, and I also listed UF as my first choice school. When should I expect notification of it, if at all? I’m out of state, and with Benaquisto, UF is my first choice. However, I’m hesitant to commit to a school if I could potentially end up paying 30k a year in tuition fees to go there. I’ve emailed financial aid, and they weren’t particularly helpful in finding out if I was still guaranteed the money. Thanks a million!

My twins are trying to do summer to fall. I asked admissions and they said typically they let you know by early May. That’s not real helpful when you are trying to arrange roommates and building preferences, but I guess until they know how many kids they are dealing with they cant do much. Building selection start for Summer B 5/28 so hopefully they get out the decisions before than.

We haven’t gotten our first list from National Merit Yet. The first one generally comes in about another week. Once they are here we get them coded as quickly as possible so you’ll see the Benaquisto then.

Oh my!! I was worried! Thanks so much for letting me know!

From what I am hearing, summer to fall is harder to get because lots of students want it. I’d switch with you if they would let us!

Uga had merit in early action. We got half OOS not sure if there’s more. You should call and ask. Both UF and UGA are reasonably priced even at full pop compared to most. Not cheap. Just relative to others.

Really disappointed I didn’t receive a scholarship because UF was one of my top choices. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for UGA.

Are there any in-state people that thought their kids would get merit and didn’t, or is it mostly OOS? My D got Provost at UCF (30K), and Freshman scholarship ($9600) at FSU but it never even crossed my mind that UF would give her anything. I feel like you need to have near PERFECT everything or be NMF to get any money from UF.

Same here. I thought my daughter would get something from UF, though. 35 ACT, 5.01 weighted GPA, very strong essay. Not sure what went wrong…

Yes, but my son who was honors auto admit didn’t get anything then, and UGA says they’ll issue the rest of it after RD decisions go out. He has good merit from Purdue, OSU, FSU, Minnesota, as well as a few others no longer in the running, so there are definitely good options without paying full freight at UF or UGA.

I didn’t know there was auto admit for honors!

I think there is confusion in the chains. Florida had an Honors application.

I believe that s16s18s21s25 is referencing UGA Honors which had an auto admit component. If you were not auto admitted (my daughter was not), then you could apply - which she did but has not heard back.

I’m not sure that Honors and Admissions for scholarships is the same committee so it’s why you would have differentiation in decision. My daughter not into Honors and got a half out of state break while others are in Honors and got nothing.

The school also told me you could get even more later - so, while doubtful, they could offer us more later.

Keep the faith…if it’s meant to be it will happen. If not, if we all planned right, our kids all have multiple affordable options…in my case it’s just that my daughter wants to choose the less affordable one.
