University of Florida 2025 — Regular Decision

Maybe a 3.3 UW is in the top 10% at that ‘feeder school’? They just grade everyone harder than other schools…
This is why you cannot compare students from different high schools to each other. And, why I believe that you are principally competing against your classmates.

Do you think since they are test optional, they are looking for OOS students with a 30+? Would this benefit me since I am in this range and OOS? I am just curious if this year was good to OOS students or not.

I mean not test optional^

I have no idea what will happen this year. I know in the fall, Florida schools were predicting a drop in average test scores. 40-50 points for SAT and 1-2 points for ACT. We wont know how it actually panned out until we see the numbers. Being the only state requiring test scores we can’t look at any other schools to compare.

you only have 9 days to wait. If i were a betting person, i would think a 30 would help. It’s in their range of the past - not high but in the 25/50 range and i could see it being at the 50% this year. A 30 is rock solid - even a 28 is when you look at the percentile. Not sure where all these higher scores come from. I’m sure you have alternatives - and wherever you end up will be lucky to have you - if it’s UF or otherwise.

hi all - how is a feeder school defined?

However you want it to be defined. I don’t think that there is a generally accepted definition.
In UF’s Annual Admissions Report, they highlight the the “Top Feeder Schools” and they show 10 of them. The implication of the word “Top” is that there are more than what they show there. So, there goes ambiguity of the phrase…

Thank you!!

I’ve always understood feeder school to refer to the schools that sent the most kids—I think some schools publish that in their fact sheet, but being OOS, I never looked for it for UF.

Thanks. We are OOS too. Makes sense

That info is correct, but it’s also important to note that many of the schools on that list are among the largest high schools in Florida so it would make sense that tey send the most kids (and Stanton in Jax is a dedicated magent for the most academically talented students). None of this is based on percent of students who are admitted but only total students. Not to say it’s not accurate, but it can be misleading because those schools are very large

@wlehockey 100%. As a state school, UF has the obligation to admit a diverse population representative of the state, including geography.

There are no special arrangements or coordination between UF and those top 10 “Feeder Schools”. It is simply the list of the 10 high schools that have the most students at UF. I am very familiar with one of the 10 and parents at that school would contend that it is harder to get into UF in that high school because there are so many highly qualified students.

Yes, thank you. I have above a 30. I am just curious if this is what UF is looking for OOS. I am curious if they would generally accept more OOS students with this range this year.

FSU decisions came out today. UF next for us over here! Good luck to all, eager for the 26th!

That’s incredible. I don’t believe that UT-Austin admits more than 100 from more than one high school (Plano West Sr High with 1300+ in senior class). With 334-335 attending UF, how many students graduate from Coral Reef and Cypress Bay HSs?

Gll

My son emailed to update his NMF status, but we have no idea if that helps at all. We also though UF is a safety, however, that perception has changed recently.

That was a good idea, unfortunately I did not do that so I guess they don’t know if I’m a finalist. It might be too late by now, but they probably assume semifinalists will advance anyway. Whether they care or not is a different question…

Based on all the cc reading I have done this past year, it seems unless you have a hook, no stats are a safety in most T50 schools.
