Hi,
I’m applying to UF this November and I have a couple of questions regarding the application process.
First my stats:
GPA: 4.0 unweighted 4.32 weighted
ACT: 35 composite
English, Reading and Science: 36
Math: 30
SAT: 1510
ELA: 780
Math:730
I know that my stats give me a pretty good shot of getting in, but I still have some questions.
-
Does UF look purely at stats for their decisions? I know schools have holistic application review, but some state schools automatically let some students in based on stats.
-
Is there a preference between SAT and ACT, and are some sections of the ACT considered more important than others? (for example, UGA only considers the English an Math ACT sections.)
-
How important are the essays to your application?
-
How difficult is it to get into UF Honors?
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks.

UF is famous (some say notorious) for having a holistic admissions process. Some say that 50% of admissions has to do with non-academic factors like ECs, work experience, leadership, and the essay. That being said, you have a competitive GPA and great test scores. UF wants superstars so you have to show them that you are great outside of the classroom, too.

No preference. Submit your best score/scores. UF does not look at the essay portion of the SAT. Not sure how they view subsections of the ACT. I know that subject tests in SAT are not required.

Extremely important.

I know it is competitive but don’t have any specifics.
