Hi! I am a high school junior with a current ACT score of 32. I have a PSAT score of 1450, and fully except to be a national merit finalist in my state. My GPA cannot be determined until senior year, but I have never made a B in a 9 week, and most of my A’s are in the 95-103 range. I have leadership experience in that I am a 3rd year drum major, Vice President of thespians, and dance captain for JV show choir. I was wondering what my likelihood of getting into Florida would be as an out of state student? I was also wondering if I could get into Florida, what my chances of getting into the honors college would be? If I get into Florida, but not the honors college, would it be a better decision to do honors at FSU? I want to be a child advocacy lawyer, and after I get my undergrad, I plan to go to law school. I know I want to double major in child development and another degree, most likely either psychology or philosophy. Thank you for your help!
@rnnarbo Sounds like you are out of state. It is really difficult to chance OOS at UF.
Regarding Honors Program (not Honors College, no such thing at UF), I would recommend that you search through these boards for other threads about this topic. Admissions to Honors at UF is heavily dependent on the essay and there are varying opinions about the value of Honors at UF, or anywhere for that matter. I would never make a college decision based on honors or not, but that is just me. I see no real value from my 25+ years experience in the business world, but maybe there is for grad/law school, i don’t know.
Why would you want to pay OOS tuition for a degree in child development, psychology or philosophy? Is money no issue for you? Or are you banking on the OOS Benaquisto? Are there no good in state options for you?
