@Gator88NE ^^
@Mom2NND Says on their website about 1000 are given each year and ārecipients are typically in the upper middle 50% of admitsā
@antoshk Thanks for the information, I could not find the number given out on their website.
@antoshk I donāt really have any insight into the OOS scholarships.
Good Luck!!
@Mom2NND Iāve never found the stats, but very very fewā¦like 50. I will look now and see if I can find it
You can find the number in the 2017 office of admissions annual report, on page 11. The ā1,000ā number is for merit based awards for in-state and OOS students. About 45 OOS awards where made (Alumni/Sunshine/Gator Nation). Those awards are not the only ones awarded to OOS students, these are the ones given out by the admissions office. .
@Mom2NND Try this link and look at annual report. There were 40 OOS specific scholarships given. http://admissions.ufl.edu/publications
Thank you @Gator88NE and @Rubix1 for the link to the information.
Interestingly it seems in 2017 the OOS admit rate was only 10% (vs instate which was 41%) I thought OOS was harder to get in, but from recent posts on CC it seemed like others felt OOS might make it easier to get in. Now Iām back to thinking OOS is harder given the stats posted in the admissions annual report showing a 10% OOS admit rate.
There is a definite mistake on the OOS printed numbersā¦the admitted numbers for the subgroups do not add up to the overall number. It is over 2000 too low.I believe it is directly related to a misprint in the OOS columns. I am positive more than 6 OOS enrolled as well.
I just want to point out that the Gator Nation Scholarship really is not a true scholarship, but is an out of state tuition waiver. It knocks down out of state tuition to in state tuition levels. Sad thing is, if a kid is from out of state and is fortunate enough to obtain a Gator Nation Scholarship, if they were from in state, they probably would not be paying any tuition (based on their academics and ECs). UF really does not try very hard to get great out of state students. How do I know? My son received the Gator Nation Scholarship and started last year.
@hearim Thatās a good point. However, the full OOS cost for UF (and the other schools in the Florida University system) is close to the in-state rates at some other schools (Pitt, Penn State, Iām looking at you!). I think the FL universities are a great deal for anyone.
No doubt about it. UMichigan comes to mind when you discuss in state tuition cost but we are are from Texas and UT is very similar to UF for in state costs.
