Hi there,

I am currently a freshman in one of the colleges in Florida. I was thinking of transferring to a bigger school. I also checked University Florida stats on collegeboard and the SAT scores look pretty impressive. Do you have any idea what kind of school that is and what is the situation like in it? Oh and do the provide any scholarships or aid for transfer students. Thanks

I think most of the scholarships are thru Bright Futures. Do you qualify for BF?

Look on the UF website for other scholarships. Frankly, scholarships are mostly for incoming freshmen.

UF gives very little merit aid. They just don’t have to.

Your best bet to transfer is to do so with your AA. Even if you are at a smaller state U, you can actually be awarded an AA if you ask and meet the criteria. Without an AA, you must meet both FRESHMAN and transfer admissions criteria if you aim for admission before you have 60 hours. AND THEY TAKE VERY FEW students without 60 hours or an AA. Currently they are not even accepting applications for less than 60 hours or your AA (see the UF Admissions website for tranfsers. After 60 hours, you must meet all prerequisites for your major and be very competitive GPA wise.

There is some FA aid available to those with high need.

I have to be honest, if you have not done a little research online and on these boards to know what it takes to get into UF, I am not sure you have what it takes.

Also research the UF forum here on CC. Read the transfer threads. You will see the type of GPA’s needed to get into UF as a transfer.
