University of Georgia or College of Charleston??

Hey yall, I need help, like for reals. After like months of searching, I've finally narrowed my college selection down to two schools. The University of Georgia and the College of Charleston. I've been accepted to CofC by doing early action, and I've applied to UGA, but let's get real here, I'm going to get into UGA. I'm not trying to be cocky, but I'm just not worrying about it.

Let's start with CofC first. To put it simply, I absolutely love it!! I adore the city of Charleston, the campus is right in the middle of downtown, and there is so much to do there. My major is going to to be something business related with a communication major or minor thrown in there as well, which CofC offers. Unfortunately, I'm from Georgia, so I would be an out of state student. Tuition and everything would be like $30,000 a year. I'm applying for scholarships and all, but I hear they're really selfish with their money.

While CofC is somewhat my first choice, I can't help but acknowledge UGA. The thing that really scares me about UGA is that it's freaking huge to be honest. It has like 30,000 students, meaning it's triple the size of CofC. UGA also has a reputation of being a huge party school. I mean I can get down with that some nights, but not like 24/7 (maybe). I just don't want to be surrounded by a bunch of stupid bros and hos with bud light in hand. The thing about UGA is that I have such a great opportunity there. I did a business camp this past summer, giving me entrance into the business school there, as a FRESHMAN. UGA has one of the best and most selective business schools in the country. I am one of less than 100 people to have this opportunity to enter it without having to apply as a sophomore. Graduating from the business school at UGA would "set me for life" as my father says. True, they have an amazing alumni network, and I doubt I would ever have to worry about a job, but can I handle UGA.

I've gone to a small private school my whole life, so moving up to a enormous SEC school would be pretty intense. I mean I know I could do it, but I don't know if I want to. To be honest, I feel as if my heart is at the College of Charleston, but my best deal is at UGA. I mean really people. What should I do? Where should I go?

This may be me rambling, but I hear that UGA has an amazing roommate matching system. One of my worst fears is having to live with some crazy, weird trick. Then again, I've been to Charleston so many times, I know that most of everyone that goes there is pretty cool?

You do have a dilemma. Those are very different schools, although you shouldn’t underestimate the party scene at COC. The kids I know who went there from the northeast were big partiers and not the strongest students. I really like UGA, and for you the price can’t be beaten unless COC comes up with a lot of money. I understand your concerns about the size of UGA, but you will find your niche quickly. Charleston is a very cool city, though. I personally think the UGA degree carries more weight.
Sorry I can’t give you a simple answer.

Out-of-state tuition, room and board at C of C will run you over $33,000 a year. With HOPE, it’ll be about a third that at UGA. C of C’s a less selective school than UGA, and far less renowned in your intended field of study. I think that it’s an exaggeration to to anticipate that graduating from the Terry School of Business is going to “set you for life,” but it certainly makes all the logical sense in this case. The $22,000 annual difference in cost could fund a lot of weekend trips to Charleston if that’s what turns you on.

I thought it would be scary to go to a big school(VT) and made the biggest mistake of my life. Now I’m at a school with <4k kids and I hate it. I have a friend that goes there and I’m constantly wishing that I had chosen a bigger school. Spirit is completely different at bigger schools from what I’ve seen.

Just something to think about.

hey just out of curiosity, where did you end up and are you happy with your choice? Im stuck between those two schools right now and could use your help!
