Many I.E. Scholastic bowl , freshman advisory , worked with prof of CSU on staph infections research
Recs : sent 5 all were outstanding one from PHD prof I worked with

Personal statement discussed the importance of leadership and talked about my freshman advisory experience
if any more information is required to make an accurate chance please just post it here and I applied to UIC not to be confused with UofI

perhaps sending in all 5 recs were not necessary?
now, I think if you send anther one in, it's not going to help your chances. Unless, of course, it is a stellar rec, and can tremendously help you.
Sit back and relax?? Good luck!

UIC doesn't even look at recs for regular undergrad admissions. It will all depend on your fall grades. UIC is really trying to control the size of its freshman class. All of you numbers are below average for UIC.

Yes I understood that however the original deadline was jan 15th and then the extended it to the 31st of jan . Why would they do that ? You say they are trying to controll admissions to a certain number extending such a deadline makes no sense thats just quite contradictory your above statements . I talked to my ACT instructor he said he believes its because less people can afford colleges in this type of economic state and that the quality of applicants there have declined this year he worked at UIC for 5 years in the admissions department ...

In this economy, UIC applications tend to increase. My source is the current head of UIC admissions. UIC LAS doesn't want a repeat of Fall 2004. In Fall 2004, they had to wait list people after they were accepted. They sent in their reply late.

Hmmm... Do you know a rough percentage of students that get in that have been deferred ? How would compare UIC accounting program to that have Northern Illinois University ? Could I transfer to UIC after one semester somewhere else with 36 semester credit hours ?

hey man. srry i didn't chance you earlier. i had trouble finding your stats. i try to respond as promptly as i can. i'm going to give you a really honest evaluation. your class rank and ACT score are weak. I've never heard of a school that uses a 2.7 GPA scale. usually it's on a 4.0 school. with that said, 2.69/2.7 seems about perfect, but then why are you only in the top 45% of your class. the mid 50% range for ACT is 21-26, so you're on the lower end of that average... your extracurriculars are outstanding. i'd give you a 50/50 shot. but i still dont understand your GPA and class rank...

sja1202 sorry for the confusion my GPA is a 2.69/2.7ish on a 4.0 scale and yes I think my extracurrics are my only bright spot I was brief about them on this post

freakonomics is an interesting book. I enjoyed reading it.

Anyway, where exactly in IL are you from? I'm also in scholastic bowl, maybe my school plays you lol.

Overall I'd say it seems like a coin toss right now. Scores and gpa are on the low side of admitted UIC students, but you're still qualified for admission. Good luck on the re-evaluation of you app.

No. I just knew the head of admissions and asked questions. Also, the issue of what happened in Fall 2004 is fairly well known. If you ever read some of the UIC papers, they actually talk about their plans.
I went to some information session when I was in high school, and they said they do not really look at recommendations for regular undergrad.
