I am currently attending a community college that has a transfer articulation agreement with UIUC. I know all my classes will transfer, but as I wish to transfer into the College of Business, specifically accounting, and I know that is very competitive.
I currently am in my second semester with a 3.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale, although if my attempt at getting my high school dual credit grade forgiveness(the class was very poorly handled, I know someone who changed their grade to an A on the computer) is successful I will have a 4.0. I doubt as I am going to take Calculus I will be able to maintain that, as I am already having a moderate amount of difficulty in Precalculus. Assuming I get an A in every other class I take(which doesn’t seem every hard to me. The only classes I have difficulty with here are the science/math ones) and get a B in each calculus class I will have a 3.87. If I get a B in Precalc as well I will have a 3.79, and if the grade forgiveness does not go through I will have a 3.75.
I am a member of the Student Government and plan on achieving an executive position next year. While I have three AP classes, only 1 will transfer to UIUC because of the scores(I would need 5 on all of them. I only got 5 on one and four on the rest). I am also a member of a volunteer/self-inprovement group on campus. My accounting instructor was also a teacher in UIUC for a period of time and taught accounting there, so hopefully that will help there. I am taking 2 honors classes this semester and plan on taking more next year. I am currently awaiting my Phi Theta Kappa invitation(it will arrive in mid February according to other students) and next year I will be petitioning to join the Scholars program which helps with transfer to specific schools and offers free short-term study abroad programs.
I know the “minimum” is a 3.0 but in realty I am probably going to need at least a 3.5. If my current stats hold up, what are my chances of getting in? If I cannot get in I will either go to NIU accounting, which has far fewer recruiters, or UIUC economics.
