University of Illinois-Urban Champaign chances and a Few Questions

<p>I live in Illinois and I am white. Here are my stats:
- High School Junior
- 4.0 GPA (All A's and B's, B's came from Honors classes)
- ranked 40 of class of 450 (top 10%)
- Have taken 9 Honors classes, and 2-4 AP class by the time i graduate
- I have poor extracurriculars: Just Football my freshman year and FBLA for a term my sophomore year
- Volunteer work throughout my Junior and Senior year
- Comitted to guitar, play it every day throughout high school w/ weekly lessons
- Plan on working a job (10-25 hrs a week) non-stop until I go to college (started working end of sophomore year)
- Tutored a peer in math sophomore/Junior year (his dad goes went Illinois)
- Want to go to college of business and major in accounting (taking business courses in high school to prepare)
- I'm committed and passionate about academics and I plan on writing a good application letter
- Taking PSAT, ACT, and SAT this year. Plan on taking ACT twice and am expected to do above average (ACT: 28-32)</p>

<p>Any suggestions? I'm busy enough already so school activities aren't really an option. My backup colleges are Illinois State, Ilinois-Chicago, and Northern Illinois. Any other good business schools in Illinois I am missing? Also, if I take AP classes, should I take AP exam because all my AP classes I'll take Senior year and I don't want to study all at once, and by that time I'd probably be accepted already?</p>

<p>You're right on track for getting into U of I. Make sure you stay in the top 10% and do well (30+) on your ACT and you should get in. However, I'm not sure if you are applying to U of I business ... if so that's a different story...U of I business is pretty competitive. Some friends in top 5%/33's got rejected....but the general admission is easy for you. I'd be surprised if you got rejected from that.</p>

<p>What's the difference between general admission and applying for business?</p>

<ul>
<li>4.0 GPA (All A's and B's, B's came from Honors classes)
Out of a 4.0 grading scale??</li>
</ul>

<p>Well when you apply to Urbana you need to specify which college you're applying to. Urbana's BUS (business school) is probably one of the toughest colleges to get into. If you get rejected from the business school, they may offer still offer you admission to the university under a different major.</p>

<p>I definitely want to major in accounting or Finance. Anyone else have any input? What would would I have to get on my ACT/SAT to get into the College of Business?</p>

<p>yeah you're in for sure at uiuc. i'm applying there too lol chance me ;-)<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/569604-so-last-one-had-too-many-errors-one-s-better.html%5B/url%5D"&gt;http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/569604-so-last-one-had-too-many-errors-one-s-better.html&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p>
