University of Maryland C/O 2020 Discussion

UMD was a safety when I applied, and I’ve always had that “ugh it’s my state school” feeling many students itching to get out far away from home tend to get. But as the months went on I started to really love the school. I am really really hoping we get decisions before Feb 1, but it’s not looking likely anymore :frowning: Also thanks maryversity for all that you do on UMD’s forums. You always have such great info!

@maryversity Cool! I’m taking Calculus C and Differential Equations right now

Really nervous and hope they are soon. Any chance it would be tomorrow? Some rumors were floating around it would be tomorrow around 5 o’clock (can’t validate any of my sources though)

I am excited that they have a new promising football coach and a good basketball team. Also really excited to find out what I am gonna major in, definitely something STEM related though

@meg713 , if you look at many of the posts on the forums of UMD, many sources have pointed to decisions being released at 5:00 tomorrow. Hopefully it’s true and the Maryland wait can be over!

@mf8088 -I’m glad to help, as are the other “regulars” that post on this forum from year to year.
I totally understand wanting to get out of dodge. I’m glad you’ve started to appreciate the merits of your home state school - Maryland really is awesome in so many ways! I just love all the unique programs and unique opportunities it has to offer. I love the diversity of the student body, the school spirit, and how everyone is just so happy at Maryland. It’s challenging academically, but it still offers the quintessential “best 4 years of my life” experiences.

@potterismylife Great! If you can take the Calc BC AP exam, and score a 5, definitely take the credit for it and go right to Calc 3. From everything I hear, Calc 1 is easy, but I consistently hear Calc 2 is painful. My son went straight to Calc 3 and is glad he did.

@md1998, make that a great basketball team!

@maryversity Thanks for the advice

Guess we’re allowed to discuss “DECISIONS” now. “STATS” too? Hope we get them tomorrow!! UNC released theirs around 4:30pm today.

LOL. On this thread (or the other one you kindly created for discussion also), why not?

Just not sure what actual “decisions” you have to discuss since they haven’t been released by Maryland yet…?

If you want to see the stats of the people who applied, trust me, you will see them soon enough…as soon as people get their decisions, they will post…patience, my friend, patience.

I hope you get decisions tomorrow, too…but honestly, I wouldn’t get my hopes up until Monday. Hang tough…

So, if you know that UNC released theirs, does that mean there is some good news there for you?

Best of luck to everyone…

As bad as this wait seems. My friend’s son applied to Virginia Tech (I think) and they will not hear until April 1st. Which is not very cool…since most deadlines to reply are May 1st and you are putting people at the end of the housing deposit lines.

@maryversity i have the housing link on my portal. I have previously read people talk about this meaning something. What does exactly does it mean?

@md1998 I have the same thing on mine, along with a couple friends. I don’t want to speculate TOO much but it would be pretty weird if you could fill that out before you got accepted

In the past few years the Housing Link was uploaded right before decisions were coming out and everyone that got the link was admitted. However, there were cases of people that were admitted but didn’t have the Housing glitch.

aaaahhhhhh - What screen do you see that on???

@nervousmom123 on the main portal screen, it appears as one of the links below the list of your application documents. There’s a big heading that says “housing” I believe

Am I the only one who is in awe of out of state people who apply to Maryland? Maybe it’s just because it’s my state school but I’m just so surprised that out of state people actually know Maryland exists and want to come here! That’s so awesome. With popular state schools like UNC and UVA, I can understand but I never knew that people from NY and Georgia or whatever would actually know of Maryland haha.

So if we have the dining and housing agreement we got in???

I see the dining and housing agreement as well. Was this tab always here? @ksween

No definitely not always there. It also says for admitted students only

@ksween Apparently in past years this glitch has been a major sign of acceptance, but I don’t want to get my hopes up. I really wish they would release decisions today
