One person assumed that decisions will be out on the 27th I think they will be out on the 30th. No one on this forum actually knows when decisions will be out. All that you can count on is that they will be out by February 1. I know it’s tough but try to be patient.
Does UMD make honors decisions/invites based solely on the application you submitted, or do they ask for additional materials, post Nov 1 grades, interview, etc?
@EngineeringDad7777 - no additional materials or interview needed for honors decisions/invites which are based solely on the applications submitted by the priority deadline of November 1. It is only for the highest merit scholarship, which I refuse to name because of the ensuing discussion that gets ridiculous, that there is an invite for a mandatory interview.
Thanks MaryV
Hi - did anybody else receive a handwritten card from UMD Admissions - it doesn’t say a decision just that were happy you are considering UMD and reach out to us if you want to speak with any alumni about our programs and what we can offer. Seems odd - it seems odd it is hand written, even the envelope? Getting excited that this may mean Accepted.
^ No, would you mind posting a picture of it? Or pm’ing me a picture? Curious to see what it looks like
@debslilman I haven’t gotten anything in the mail either. Do you live Maryland? Maybe they are sending them out to Maryland residents… Or it just hasn’t come in the mail for me yet haha
Nobody has gotten them yet @acs116 and I live in Maryland
debslilman, my daughter got that same handwritten note yesterday from BSOS. She was excited but didn’t know what to think about it. Anyone else get that note or know what it means? We are OOS.
@debslilman Are you out of state? Which school did you apply to? Maybe you have a really impressive record and they really want you to go!
University of Maryland is my Daughter’s First Choice…she did not apply Early Decision/Action but her application was submitted by the end of September…she is still waiting for a response…OOS from NJ…
Yes, my son is OOS. We don’t know what to think either - there has to be too many applicants to do that for all. Not sure what to think.
My D received a handwritten card from someone in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences.
We are OOS.
@WhereIsMyKindle You dispelled my skepticism. What did the card say? Nothing here yet.
@itsgettingreal17 Honestly, I can’t remember exactly. Something about we’re excited you’ve applied to the college, mentioned her proposed major, talked a bit about opportunities, and gave contact info if she has any questions. It came from the specific college not from admissions.
I refuse to get hopes up about the scholarship.
Ah, leme give u my scenario. So in my sophomore year of high school, I attended the Young Scholars Program at UMD and got an A (4.0 gpa) in the course I took. UMD has kept a transcript for me in their database since then and I still have access to it. Now, when I applied to UMD, I sent in my AP scores as well (I now know that ur supposed to send after u get admitted). The funny thing now is that when I checked my UMD transcript the other day, it had the course I took at the Young Scholars program and the AP exams I had taken (with the scores I received) as well as the credits I receive from each and the courses I get to skip. Could this possibly mean that I got admitted into UMD?
Also, if I do get into UMD, would I have to resend the ap scores or not?
@maryversity
I submitted my app on Oct 31, and my SAT scores, LORs reached before that. I don’t know exactly when my transcripts reached, but they reached before 7th Nov. However, my app status page shows that my application was completed on 14th January
@artetc Don’t worry about the completed date on the screen. It updates every day to say today’s date. It confuses everyone.
@YoohooAddict - While I cannot say for sure, I highly doubt that the scenario you describe is any indicator of admission. As you stated yourself, the transcript has been on record in their database since you attended the program several years ago. The “update” is literally is administrative because you had the AP scores sent and they have been added to your pre-existing record/transcript. Nothing more. It is standard to show the equivalent courses on the transcript because they do count for college credit (at all colleges), so that is also not any indicator.
While, of course, I hope you are admitted, you should not read into this in any way. The fact that the scores are documented on your account are proof that they received them and therefore you will not need to resubmit them if you are admitted.
Only a few weeks left till the end of the month…hang in there, and best of luck.
@maryversity Thanks m8, it all makes sense now.
