Yayyyyyy conflicting messages again
I really don’t think anyone in that admissions office knows what they’re doing. UMD’s already off to a bad start.
I’m just wondering what could’ve changed between early this morning and 1PM that changes the estimate from “by the end of the week” to “some time next week”
At this point the only thing we really know is that if they consider the 25th mid-April (which I think someone said they did), then we’ll know by then at the latest.
It’s weird though because I would assume admissions would want to keep the transfer acceptance rate relatively low so it seems more selective, but the longer they wait the more likely it is that they’ll accept students who won’t be able to/want go there
it is what it is at this point and there’s not a whole lot that we can do about this, but its getting pretty ridiculous. the admissions office needs to give a consistent answer instead of telling people different things. its gotten out of hand and i’ve honestly lost a lot of respect for the university, just because of the admissions office
You’re right - there isn’t a whole lot we can do. Some people on this forum are running around like chickens without heads and they need to just calm down. This is becoming a huge circlejerk at this point. UMD said by the end of the week, so let’s just trust them this time as hard as that may be.
@bbe267 I think the problem is that they said the start of this week… or the end of this week… or next week… or at the end of this month…
@tecz77 Yeah they’re all over the place but there’s nothing we can do about it
That’s true. I honestly just want to know why this is happening more than anything else.
yeah, its extremely frustrating, but like i said theres not much we can do. its annoying though because last week they said beginning of this week, then they said end of this week, then they said next week. they just need to give a consistent answer. but yeah, we just gotta trust them and hope its this week
It will most likely be Friday. Time goes by really fast though guys, so stop stressing about it. We all really want to find out if we are in or not, but they’re not going to go any faster.
Just called UMD, and the man who answered said that these past two days have been spent double checking everything, and just making sure that nothing was overlooked. He said with confidence (man with an asian accent, I forgot his name) that they WILL BE OUT BY THIS FRIDAY. When asked why this time is longer than previous years, he said they usually release them last week or this week, and that they want to make sure all applications were received, reviewed, and that they are double checking everything.
@sml101 the women apparently have 0 understanding on what the fuck is going on
@sml101 Nice, I hope his is the voice of reason in this.
do any of you guys know how much spring semester effects umd accepting us? I know that decisions are going to be released before the spring semester is over, but what are the chances that they may take away an acceptance (if i even get in in the first place)? My gpa was a 3.5 first semester and i’m taking really tough classes this semester and will probably end up with a 3.0 this semester.
Do you guys know if that math placement examination is required for all new transfer admissions? I took business calc last spring, will have 45+ credits after this spring,so if I have to refresh my mind on some topics I don’t mind, but want to know if it’s necessary for all transfers.
@patrickbritt if they accepted you already the grades you get this semester really won’t have any influence i think
I think it is necessary @roro17 so that your advisor can determine what level you’re on. I took business calc also and I still took the placement test and I did well on it.
@patrickbritt
same as u but mine gonna drop to 2.0 or so
take tons of 4xxx classes and just want them pass
