My school uses Naviance to send transcripts and letters of recommendations, but UMD is my only school on the Coalition app. There is a section that makes me choose how I send documents, but I am not sure what to choose. Do I request my transcripts/recommendations through the application even though my teachers and counselor have already submitted them through Naviance? There is nothing on the UMD app indicating that anything has been received.
If not, then do I select the option that says that I will ensure my transcripts/recommendations are submitted outside of the Coalition system?
I’m really confused on what to do. Any help will be useful, thanks.
I would ask your guidance counselor. My DD’s school said they submit everything through Naviance. Her transcript and the GC recommendation we’re received. Still waiting on the the teacher recs, but they haven’t submitted them yet
My DD did email her GC about the application, and she also changed the status of her UMD application to “applied” in Naviance.
Ohh, thank you! So just to clarify, she requested the transcript/recommendations directly from the UMD application? And is there a way to see if the school has received anything yet because I can’t seem to find that
Hey @danilahey, I had the same issue. My counselor told me to check the box that all material, including transcripts and letters, would be sent outside the Coalition system. After you submit the Coalition app you will see a checklist that tracks your materials as they arrive at UMD, and all my materials seemed to arrive ok.
Just a question for my S18 - did you get an e-mail acknowledgment that the Coalition app went through for College Park. He submitted on the weekend but no e-mail ack. (he also likely has to make sure the materials match up from Naviance as described above.)
My son filled in grades on the coalition app but will also have his transcript/recommendations sent from his school (naviance). Did he do this correctly? Should he have self reported scores?
Yes, @pct3, for some reason they make you manually fill in all your classes and grades on the Coalition App even though the colleges receive an official transcript from your high school. I have no clue why they make you do that, but it sure feels like a pointless exercise.
Thank you for your response @Junior3 I thought it was also strange that the grades were by quarter. Our high school transcript is not at that level of detail.
No email for us either from UMCP, we just had the updates in the Coalition portal. The one thing I do like about the portal is that it shows the date of arrival of each piece that was submitted (although sounds like only the first test score month and year is displayed). For our common application it wasn’t clear whether all pieces arrived…and the one school we used for it sent us a letter to their portal that only shows “application complete” but no details on whether the SAT or LOR arrived. That school is SAT/ACT optional, but we want them to have DD’s score since it helps with merit scholarships. So, I feel like the Coalition app portal was more informative.
