Question about housing. Does waiting until May 1st to accept have any impact on dorm availability? More specifically, our son was offered CIVICUS, which is housed in Somerset Hall. Do we need to accept that invitation or the admission offer as soon as possible to get better chances for housing within the Somerset Hall or elsewhere? Thank you!
Twin sons admitted to College of Engineering
In-state, both IB Diploma candidates, both in top 10 in class of 450
-

Daughter admitted vocal performance/music Ed.
i didnât get into cs directly(instead l & s), but did get into honors college. any thoughts?
If you get in OOS (MA) but not to honors, does that mean merit is unlikely?
Stats 3.985UW, 7AP/4 college classes at SLAC via high school arrangement. Lots of EC, varsity sports captain, city government internship.
ACT 34, major public policy. I know merit can be minimal but curious how it works. Thanks!
Did he receive his music admission decision in his university admission letter or did he hear separately from the school of music?
Same situation for us. Got into Honors but L and S. First choice was CS. Also got into GIT with CS major.
We are in-state MD.
Any advice about GIT CS vs UMD Honors?
Anyone have preferences or info on honor
Programs and houses? Is honor housing guaranteed all 4 years?
Daughter applied to CS but got accepted in (L and S) starting Jan 24. Does it mean it will take more than 4 years to complete ? Will starting with Freshmen connection this fall help?
Freshman Connection will allow your D to start in the Fall and graduate with all the other freshman who start in Fall 2023. She will be able to do an internal transfer to CS after completing the gateway courses with the required GPA
I think Honors College students are guaranteed Dorm housing all 4 years. At least it used to be that way. But you are Not guaranteed a choice of Dorms.
A lot of students move into apartments beginning Junior year
The B/K scholarship is only available to students in the Honors College.
The Presidents Scholarship is available to ANY student admitted EA
Deans Scholarships are limited to In-State Students
Son Accepted w/ Carillon invite
OOS - CA public
Applied CS but got Letters & Science
Top 10-15 in class - UW3.9, W4.6, SAT 1430 but probably didnât submit
11 APs (CS A 5, Calc AB 5, Eng Lang 5, APUSH 4, Physics 1 4, senior APs - Lit, BC, Psych, Gov, Econ, Physics 2 + Honors CS AB as a non-AP)
ECs - 4 years of Cross Country & Track with 3 yrs as Varsity, but so-so volunteering and robotics.
Happy to get the offer, but probably should withdraw as merit, if any, wonât be close to other acceptance offers. And of course, the UCs would be half the price without any merit.
Got admitted today, applied CS but got in letters and sciences as a international freshman
