Hi, I'm a Jewish white kid who lives in NY. I'm a junior at a competitive high school. I really want to go to the University of Miami.

My weighted GPA will prob be around a 3.78 by the end of my junior year. My SAT score will probably be in the 1260-1340 range.
I am top 20% at my high school and my ECs are:

Varsity Baseball - 3 years
Jv baseball - freshman year
fresh and jv basketball
DECA business club
National Honor Society
Math honor society
english " "

oh yea, and i got a 640 on my Math SATII.

please tell me if i can get in, and what its like at that school cause i imagine it would be amazing.

a kid from my school got into miami with a full scholarship. i'd say you have a decent chance, but it wouldn't hurt to aim for 1350-1400, to be on the safe side.

you're a junior. relax. keep up the good work.

I just got in with a 28 ACT, 3.94 u/w, 4.4 cum weighted, 3/~350 in rank, female in engineering, with some fairly significant county and statewide leadership positions in student council/board of ed stuff, sports, all the various honor societies, mock trial, etc AND a job.

The SAT averages are going up so I would say that being into the 1300s would keep you safe where being in the 1200s may be risky. Good luck and check out the UMiami forum on here as it is quite active.

you should also work on pulling up that rank from 20% to 10-15%. SATs are important but its only a 3 hr test compared to your grades/transcript which is a cumulation of 3 years worth of work by the time u apply. The average weighted GPA at UM is around 4.0 as it says on their website. Im not sure whether they weight this average using a standardized scale or if they dont account for variations in weighting systems at different schools. Nevertheless, you should focus most on your schoolwork as that is definitely one of the most important, if not the most, factors in admissions.
