University of Michigan Ann Arbor Early Action Fall 2024

For sure. We went through this a couple of years ago with my older Daughter, and it seemed like it took an eternity. She was accepted off of the waitlist, so for her, the wait was worth it.

Please repeat this and hope many read this. Many here will wait till April to find out if their accepted even if they applied EA. For a lucky few getting off the wait list can be in June. Glad it worked out for you.

I believe we had a few get off the waitlist in July this past cycle.

Curious if you know of any acceptance statistics specifically for the School of Kinesology? My Senior is focused on Sports Management, and UMich offers an incredible program.

I don’t think I have seen it broken down like that and yes it’s a fantastic school. I know it’s competitive but everything at Michigan is but…

@sushiritto might know. The Stat man.:white_check_mark:

Yes, it’s an incredible program, but Michigan doesn’t parse out acceptance statistics for the School of Kinesiology. For Engineering and Ross BBA, they do though.

Got it - thanks very much! Makes sense. We’ll keep our fingers crossed…thanks for the helpful forum!

One of my D’s best friends graduated from the School of Kinesiology. They loved the program, wants to be a PT, but probably like the rest of the university, it ain’t an easy path. :slightly_smiling_face:

That’s great to hear! Of course academic rigor and test scores are key in the application to any Michigan school, but curious if you know any specific focuses that might benefit a School of Kinesiology application?

Unfortunately, I do not.

But, the one recommendation that I do have, if and when you have the time, is to “leaf through” the Michigan EA 2022-2023 thread (two cycles ago), IIRC, because that specific cycle had an enormous amount of Kinesiology applicants posting here on CC.

In fact, I remember one of my postings in that thread had maybe 10-12 CC member names that I collated to gather them all together, and then several additional CC members came forward out of the woodwork and posted that they were Kinesiology applicants (parents of applicants and applicants alike) as well.

You may be able to glean some helpful info from their postings.

Will do - thank you!!

Facebook groups. Parents Facebook groups but I wouldn’t apply and try to give them what you think they want. Just apply with what you have a write a good essay to show who your child is and how they will be active on campus.

Alright, let me give this a shot. Any feedback about chances for EA applicant from OOS (California, large public high school):

GPA - 3.98 unweighted/4.24 weighted
ACT: 35
NMSF
Completed 4 AP classes + advanced/honors math (not AP); currently taking 5 AP classes (Calc AB, AP Lit, AP Env Sci, AP Econ, AP Gov)
Applying to LAS - undecided humanities
EC’s: 1) Pres/Captain Speech and Debate Team, 2) Writer for school paper, 3) middle school debate coach (leads program, develops lesson plans etc.), 4) member of student group producing consent education videos.

Thanks in advance.

So chances are so… Well… Chancy… Lol… With close to 90,000 applicants it’s so hard. Question for you is, how does your school do with kids going to Michigan? How many acceptances does your school get yearly. The first link might help with that. Being from California alone can increase your chances in theory. The avg student is 3.9 unweighted with 32-35 Act. You meet that but doesn’t mean your accepted. Just that your in the running. Write a great essay. Michigan really wants to get to know who you are and how you will be on campus. Michigan likes active participants and you can already show that.

Good Luck.

Thank you! That article and the grid was super interesting. This is for my kid, btw. Their school is on there but closer to the bottom than top. But anyway, we just recently visited the school and thought it was lovely so they will do their best with the essay and see how it goes!

If your school is on that list then that is a positive.

Does anyone know anything about u Mich Nursing? Is it as unpredictable as the rest of the university in terms of acceptances? Do they postpone/waitlist for Nursing as well?

When applying to Ross, do you submit the common app for UMich first and then Ross or does it all go in together? I know they are different submissions (common app and Slideroom) but don’t know if there’s a particular order. Thanks!
