No twin policy. Years ago it seemed like many twins got accepted. The last 5 years or so it doesn’t seem that is happening. But they are both more then capable. Michigan likes rigor and GPA. Both kids have that. They also want kids taking the most rigorous classes are they can get a good grade in. Many engineering kids have either Calc. But if he thinks he can get a great grade in BC then yes. Nothing in life is a guareentee. Taking 5Aps senior year probably means more then one grade. Your looked at, at what your school offers. Some schools don’t have many Aps and still accepted into engineering.
Coming oos is harder. My son did. Had 6 Aps senior year with Multivariate Calc. Many of his friend had Calc 1 and some pre Calc but the major took the hardest classes offered, if they could still get a good grade in it.
You also don’t need all As.
They also like kids that are active in other things besides school work. They want active kids on campus.
Comp Sci is direct admit now. So if that is what he wants he needs to know that going in. He can transfer out into other engineering if it doesn’t work out but talk to the school first about that.
So you bring up the question of who has a better chance of getting accepted Lsa vs engineering.
There used to be a larger separator but not now really.
Lsa 3.9 with 32-35 Act.
Engineering 3.93 with 34 Act.
This is what separates Michigan from it’s Big Ten brothers (NorthWestern being the only private school).
My son choose Michigan for one reason he wanted to be among kids in the same educational intellect.
Also it’s not that the more Aps win. Some schools start Aps I swear in like nursery school where my son’s school really encouraged them starting Junior year. His school that year was the top school in the state. This is why your judged by your school and really not others.
Look at Naviance. Also what is the history of your school sending students to Michigan. They are both qualified. But they are up against the other almost 90 000 that apply also.
Good Luck and Go Blue.
It does happen though Michigan identical twins are co-valedictorians, fraternal twins rank 3rd and 4th - mlive.com
As an aside. Michigan is doing a study in twins…
