University of Michigan - Ann Arbor TRANSFER

I’m looking into transferring to the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor for the winter of 2017. I dual enrolled at a community college during my high school career and currently attend Wayne State University. I just finished Calculus II during the spring semester at Henry Ford College as a guest student and received a 4.0 in it. I’ll be back at Wayne State in the fall full time, I just went to Henry Ford for the one class to save some money. I have earned 61 credits, 53 of which will transfer to the University of Michigan. My intended major is microbiology.

Wayne State University GPA: 3.74 Credits: 31

Wayne County Community College GPA: 4.00 Credits: 25

Henry Ford College GPA: 4.00 Credits: 5

High School
GPA W/UW: 4.03/3.99
Rank: 5/250
ACT: 26
Activities: Editor and Chief of the yearbook, Secretary of Science Club, Key Club Member, Peer Mentor, NHS Member (20+ hours of community service/yr, 3.5 minimum GPA requirement), PBIS Member, Science Olympiad Member (I medaled at a regional event one year)
Following high school I interned at BASF, the world's largest chemical company. I can get excellent letters of rec from my supervisors and will definitely mention this experience in my essays.

Since May I’ve started working part time at the Henry Ford Museum. I’ve also just started volunteering at a local food bank once a week because I have a lot of extra time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Retake your ACT. It’s your Achilles heel. Try to raise it to at least 29.

97hannah Did you end up applying? I applied for the same semester, Winter 2017, on August 3rd. I applied to LSA for Ecology & Evolutionary Biology.

We’ve almost got the same exact situation in terms of school transfers but I’m in Ohio. I started out at BGSU then dual enrolled at Owens Community College. Eventually I got my Associates of Science from Owens. We’re at almost the same credits, GPA, ACT, and HS ranking and activities… It’s weird!

So please let me know what you find out, if you applied! And good luck!
