I was recently deferred and then waitlisted to the University of Michigan LSA and wanted to write a letter of appeal before rejecting the waitlist, as i’ve gotten into two other good schools, but Michigan was my top. What would a letter of appeal sound like/include, and who would so send it to? Thanks!
I would accept the WL spot and tell them you would definitely attend if chosen. Then list anything new you want them to consider. If you have nothing new, just reiterate it is your top choice.
You can enroll at another school on May 1 and stay in the WL at UM.
An appeal would be pointless unless an error was made in your grades or something.
There’s nothing to appeal. Accept your place on the wait list and do as @HRSMom said above: Write a letter saying that Michigan is your top choice and you will definitely attend if accepted.
Michigan does not have an appeal process.
Thanks guys, I decided to deny the waitlist because it’d be a financial impossibility for me to go without merit scholarships, and if I can’t get in normally in the first place there’s no reason for them to give me merit money in June
That sounds sensible @ew1998 Where are you committing?
@HRSMom I’m either going to Case Western or University of Rochester, not quite sure which it’ll be yet. It doesn’t help that I’m an extremely indecisive person, but I’ll figure it out!
Tough choice!! Very tough choice! Congrats and good luck!
