University of Michigan - Chemistry

Hi all.

I, like other members on this forum, am attempting to get into the same graduate school as my significant other. Our #1 school is the University of Michigan, where I have already been accepted for the program in Survey Methodology. My significant other, however, has applied to the chemistry program and has yet to hear back from them. She is a student at Hope College in Holland, MI and has a GPA in the 3.2-3.3 range. Although this is somewhat low, she has completed 2 years of research including time at Hope College as well as an internship at a company located in Southern Michigan. It is my hope that this, coupled with her strong letters of rec, will be able to get her in to UMich.

So my questions are, has anyone else who happened to apply to the chemistry program at UMich heard back yet? How much longer do you think it should be before we worry? Do you think she can get in based on the short credentials I presented here?

Thank you in advance!

I checked thegradcafe.com and at least four people heard back in January, but they're all American students. (you're talking about ann harbor right?)

Also, I'm not too sure about UM since I didn't apply there, but I imagine most people applying to the program will also have research and strong letters, coupled with a higher GPA. That being said, I wouldn't give up hope. If you're feeling ambitious you can call and ask for an approximate date she can expect to hear back.

Thank you for the reply. I will take a look at the site also. Some people are currently hearing back this week, including people at her school, so I guess we'll just have to see.

I was accepted to UMich for Chem sometime around January 15th. Their admit visit weekends are March 6-8th (for which making arrangements for stops Friday), and March 27th-29th. I assume they're probably still admitting people, but I'm not sure.
