U of Michigan admission question.

Hi,
I am a pretty nervous junior and cant get the rejection letter from U of M out of my dreams. It is my first choice and I will be applying early. I was wondering if some people would be willing to tell me what my chances are of getting accepted

Well, I scored a 2010 on the SAT and a 28 on the ACT. I had straight A's until i hit Junior Year. At the time of this writing, i have completed my first semester as a junior with 3 A's, 2 B+ and 1 B. My classes are all rigorous with AC Math and science classes. I even have a AC Spanish class. Last year i took an Euro AP class and got a 5 on the test.

However, this second semester I am struggling with chem AP. I have a C right now and hope to raise it to atleast a B- or a B for the semester. In addition, i only hope to get a B+ for My Prcalc AC class. I am sure i will get 5 on my APUSH ap exam and probably a 4 on the chem AP.

My weighted GPA is about 3.95 but probably will be about ~3.7 U of M scale.

Next year i have about 4 ap classes.

As for my extra curricular, i have plenty. I have won competitions at science fairs, Ocean Bowls, science olympiads and quiz Bowls. I hold a few leadership roles in school clubs, am a part of NHS and have tons of volunteer hours. I also have a anti-global Warming 3 month internship under my belt and played a part of a summer cricket team which won 4th place in state. I write for my local school board and helped build a website for a non-profit organization. I will also be getting an internship with a doctor this summer.

So, after reading this, let me know what you think. I would appreciate it if you could be frank with me. Do you think U of M will be a reach or I have a good chance to get in?

If you are OOS I think you will be fine compared with those local kids stats that were recently accepted. Instate- unsure.

HAHA
Well, i am kinda instate.
But i believe that a Public university usually gives preference first to someone instate.

I think he meant the other way around. It's definately easier instate than out.

I recently got into U of M (was deffered and than accecpted) and I'd say I had slightly better grades and about the same test scores (SAT not submitted but I took it and got 1840, and 29 ACT). If you're applying to engineering you may not get in (talking to other people in my school which is instate, I'm probably among the least qualified who got into engineering), but since it seems the classes you're struggling in are only math/science classes I would imagine that's not what you're looking at. I know LSA is much easier to get into, and I think you could get into that.

yeah, I am not applying to the engineering school. I interested only in LSA.
