Essays: Common App 10/10 (got really good reviews from multiple sources), 1st essay about extracurricular activity 8/10 (itâs a pretty plain essay, canât complain), Community essay 8.5/10 (wrote about my nonprofit - if there was more room, couldâve produced a better essay), Why LSA/Michigan 10/10 (honestly think this essay got me in - wrote a decently lengthy essay but definitely covered all the points necessary. Quality > quantity is real!)
Teacher Recommendation: Didnât get to read them because of ferpa!!! But apparently, both were phenomenal. Got them from APUSH teacher and AP Stats teacher: One probably covered more of my academic achievement while the other probably discussed more of my ethic and etc. as a student. 10/10, 10/10
Counselor Rec: Had two because my first counselor retired - these recs canât be as good as a teacher rec, so probably okay - 8/10
Additional Rec: PI from internship, got to read it because I had to submit to other schools, 8/10. good rec, pretty standard. Music teacher - also got to read it for music schools/conservatory submission, 8/10.

TIPS!: College app szn is a real tough one, but start early for sure. Also definitely apply to UofM early, along with UVA, UNC, etc⊠Make sure that in your essays and all parts of the application that you show different aspects and sides of you. You want to show a portrait of who you are, not just a single part.
