University of Michigan Class of 2023 Early Action

Anyome know when EA applicants usually hear their final decision by after being defferred? Do we all get our decisions pretty much in one wave-ish with all the RD applicants, or do deffered students get something of a rolling admission and we dont really know when we’ll find out? Thanks!

^^^This is the bane of the Michigan deferred student. The results trickle in. Could be as late as mid-April. There’s no rhyme or reason to it.

Right after EA is announced it is RD time. That means all the EA are now in the RD pile. Notices can go out weekly to small groups of people and continue as stated till mid April. So yes it is a rolling admission of sorts. All Michigan states is that you will be notified by Mid April. This is something that is not fully understood. Just hold tight. If you don’t get on EA. Start learning about your other choices which you should be doing anyway.

My son EA to Ross. If he is differed or denied admissions to Ross does he have the opportunity to be placed in the regular freshman (non Ross) pool. I don’t really understand how the Ross U of M process works.

@karen0 admissions will consider him first for his other college choice (LSA, Engineering, etc.) - this is the admission that comes out before January
IF he is accepted, then the other college choice sends his app over to Ross
If all goes well, he should hear from Ross anytime from early February to early April

@karen0 Ross won’t even see his application until he is admitted to LSA (or engineering, whichever he applied to). Do if he is DEFERRED, he has to wait for the LSA (engineering) admissions letter. Then he has to wait for the Ross admission decision.

WILL I GET INTO LSA ??? (also preferred admission for ROSS)

@terryward if instate you have a nice chance. Out is state is a toss up. GPA should be unweighted so an A=4 and so on. No - /+. BTW - my son did the AP seminar /research a few years back when it started and had actually used what he learned a few times at Michigan. He is a sophomore /engineering. Good luck. Keep up with your grades. A lot of people are deferred and they do look at grades through midterm.

I applied for environmental engineering EA, and it was scary bc I had to have an interview.

Does anyone know when people found out decisions last year? ik it’s before Christmas Eve but

Hi guys! It is now time for my yearly visit to this site.

19th

i mean…im jewish but like…this sh•t really boutta ruin my christmas or?

@sarahk312 Last year EA decisions were released on Wed. 12/20/17.

For everyone following this thread, I believe @SingingBusDriver to be a UMich admissions insider. Please read what he/she posts VERY carefully! He/she is posting the date Wednesday 12/19, so I’d bet heavily on that date as the date EA decisons will be released.

And he/she loves sushi too! :))

@SingingBusDriver Would you know about how many EA apps UMich received this admissions season?

Any sushi recommendations in AA?

And I was really appreciative of your posts last year. Thank you!

thank you for the advice and yes it is out of state. So, they ask for a mid-year report?

on my wolverine access its asking me to authenticate my identity but there are just two buttons “add” and “add a new value” and neither of them do anything…what do i do

Hello, Does Michigan really reject anyone who applies EA in December? I know they officially say they do, but I looked through last years EA results and it seems like everyone was either accepted or deferred. They obviously reject plenty of people later on but it seems like they don’t actually reject them in December - they drag it out until Spring and then reject them. Is this true or not?

@davidkay I don’t remember many, if any, rejections that were posted here on CC. But UMich received nearly 40,000 EA apps last year, CC represents a very small sample size of those 40,000 EA apps and a sample size that skews very high in terms of student stats.

This may sound crazy but a few months ago, my school gave me a letter from UM that promises scholarship (Hail) if I apply and get admitted, and that’s the main reason I apply EA. Just wondering if anyone receives anything similar and I hope it is not just a marketing promo.
