@098123Student there wasn’t this much fanfare when my son accepted to Michigan 2 years ago. :x
One of the first things people say when they learn he is going to Michigan is “he must be smart”. Getting accepted OOS from Chicago seems to be a big deal. When I read the link you provided and saw she is coming to Michigan the first thing that popped into my head was… “she must be smart”
So… was it her Act scores, her essay of overcoming life in the White House or her recommendation from Hilary Clinton that put her over the top?
“…yet another diatribe of narcissism,” @flutespell? Wow, that little sermon to the deferred was really gracious of you.
It’s nice to see you counting yourself among those “people who have learned how to self-reflect” and not “sound really fake.” (Maybe just a hint of narcissism there?)
@sushiritto Trust me, we feel the same way. We had hoped she would get accepted to Mich now so she could stew over that for three months before Cal sends announcements. I guess everything happens for a reason so we will try to wait patiently.
I highly doubt that. It would be completely contrary to the whole idea of early action. Also, it would mean the U. is liying when it says a decision has been made.
To everyone. This is just the beginning of the enrollment cycle. Michigan states that you will know your decision by Mid April. So everyone doesn’t have to wait that long they do start slow waves of clearer answers shortly. February through March seem to be the largest waves of decisions. Start looking and getting excited about your other school choices. Also as many know they have to defer since there truly is not enough time to properly examine each application at this point. Do you want them to rush through yours? Of course not.
If you get in, consider yourself fortunate, not smarter or better then everyone else. Whenever my son tell me of another opportunity that he took advantage of at Michigan, I tell him how lucky he is. He truly understands that now.
With the deferral letters just do what they ask you to do. There is no underlying code to them.
Last year, supposedly there were three different versions of deferral letters. Did anyone get a deferral letter that DIDN"T say, “We are pleased that you applied and are impressed with your accomplishments,” and that “strong recent grades that are available before mid-February 2019 may improve your status in the deferred pool of applicants”?
Did anyone else who got accepted to LSA get an email asking them to appy to the honors college, is this a good sign? I figured it was an automatic send-out to people with a certain GPA.
I got the email about the LSA honors program as well! Quick question for anyone who might know: as someone who’s preferred admission for Ross, would I even be able to participate in LSA honors?
All students who are admitted to LSA are invited to apply to Honors College. Per the Honors College web page, it is possible to be in Ross and honors as long as you demonstrate that you also have passions in the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences.
Are there others who still haven’t heard - either thru portal or email? My daughter has neither received any email nor is the decision showing on the wolverine site…………just getting worried!!
@leoleoleo - Did she get everything in by the early action deadline? Does her portal say she’s qualified for early action? To check, log in and go to “Application Status”. Then click on “View Application Data”. Scroll down to the “Other Information” section. What does it say after Notification Plan Status? You want it to say “Early Action - Qualified”. If it doesn’t go back to a screen and click on “View Credentials”. Did they mark that they received all her materials by 11/1? If all those things check out I’d give the Admissions Office a call and see what’s up!

It turns out that my scores didn’t send on time even though eveything was submitted days beforehand. My scores were only a few day off and that was due to testing agency and through no fault of my own. I understand, but am still extremely disappointed.
@LinaOaks
That stinks. UMich is very strict on having the scores by the deadline. We happened to notice that a few days before Nov 1, so had D’s scores rushed. We were still sweating it that they’d get there in time. They did, but then D was deferred, so we ended up in the same boat with you. Unfortunately, can’t control everything.
