hey guys, last year applicant here
don’t give up if you’ve been deferred ! I was deferred and then waitlisted but got in and here I am. good luck to you all!
@wowisntthisfun very much appreciate your comment. thanks from the deferred gang lol :))
I’m a little late, but I was accepted into the college of engineering. Not sure if this will help, but if anyone’s curious (i know i am about other people), here are my stats:
SAT: 1530
OOS status-from DC
White female
GPA Weighted: 4.58
Rank: 5/378
AP classes: 10 total
Dual Enrollment Classes: 3
SAT Essay- 6,7,8 scoring
Chem SAT:760
Math 2 SAT:780
AP exams: Chem-4, ab calc-5, lang-5, world history-5, us history-5
Extracurriculars: two years basketball (was captain), four years marching band (leadership 3/4 years), three years varsity track, three years science national honor society, two years national honor society (am an officer as well; included some intense planning and organization), coached a basketball team, work at Smithsonian Air and Space museum for a year and a half now, academic letter, national merit commendation, part of freshmen mentorship program for two years now, president of a club that raised money for childhood brain cancer for three years
I’ve always taken pretty challenging classes and am tripling up on sciences this year. Didn’t think my UMich essays were that great but I had a unique topic. Common App is pretty good. Letter of rec was very good.
Anyone invited to Engineering Leadership Weekend?
I started a Michigan EA Results Thread as I also was accepted to engineering: @hpfulaplcant1234
Hopefully this may help some others if we pool all the information.

You can’t be in Ross and the Honors College unless you double major in LSA. Have you heard from Ross already?
@pachpenguin, My D has similar credentials to yours: 4.87 wgpa, 36 ACT, 12 APs (5’s on 11, 4 on 1), ranked 3rd in her HS class of 558, but got deferred! She missed scheduling her interview by the interview deadline, don’t know if that was taken as lack of interest by Michigan. She was hoping for this EA acceptance by Christmas, so is quite upset by this outcome…
@pachpenguin I hope she is not too disappointed. Looks like she got into a bunch of other great schools already and is also deferred at Yale so she is in a lot better shape than others with equally good stats who are not in anywhere and were deferred by their dream school - Michigan. Those kids are looking at the Holidays and a long few months of not knowing whether they will get in to any school. Sometimes it is worth counting your blessings.
Meant that reply to @MoBapDoll and not @pachpenguin. Sorry @pachpenguin
I’m a few days late, but here are my stats. I was accepted to LSA and I applied for economics:
ACCEPTED EA
-SAT (first try, composite): 1440
-OOS from CA
-GPA UW: 3.92/ Weighted: 4.3
-school doesn’t do rank but if it did I’d be top 15%
-AP classes: 5 total (also 5 honors and several very rigorous regular classes)
-didn’t send any subject tests
-I toured in November
-very strong and genuine essays
-impressive extra curriculars, most pertained to my interests and majors and they connected to my essays
-rec letters I’m guessing were pretty good
-I go to a pretty competitive high school in Southern California and last year almost everyone who got into mich went
-no legacy
I’m so thrilled to have gotten in! 90% sure I’ll go, I’m just waiting on financial aid and the UCs before I make it official. I love this school so much and can’t wait to probably go there! GO BLUE!!!
to everyone who was deferred: when are you guys sending your continued letter of interest and to whom are you sending it to?
your regional rep which you can find on their website, and sending it after break so they actually read it and dont just send an automated response bc of holidays. also – go on the deferred apps thread lol our gang is lit

@mezric11 Son received the packet Saturday
@camcam2022 what state do you guys live in? Currently waiting for the packet in New Jersey
Same here
@frenchhorn240 Illinois
Is it just me, or has anyone been granted financial aid? I was able to review my award notice but it doesn’t show any. I don’t know if financial aid has been rewarded or if I just didn’t get any aid.
Interesting, I’m in-state and unfortunately did not receive mine on Saturday, and of course the USPS does not deliver on Sunday. I’m planning on making the announcement to my family upon receiving the letter. Should come tomorrow for sure though
