University of Michigan Class of 2023 Early Action

@hannah1789 I got an email but I read there are others just checked their portals, seemingly without an email or maybe they checked before the email even arrived.

Very few people posted on this site that they received notifications over the weekend. Seems like only a few people were admitted over the weekend, would that be called an admission wave? Or could there still be wave for deferred students coming before 3/29?

Hi Amy…

I’m hoping there is a handful of admits today as a follow up to last week. Guessing there will be more outliers through months end. Then the big RD Wave that should include a number of EA candidates too.

Not familiar with each schools announcing pattern. It seems as though the nursing program has been rather quiet on a relative basis. Guessing a higher percentage of the speciality programs will be announced months end.

D18 is very interested in the Philosophy, Politics and Economics Major. It essentially places U of M as her top choice school.

We had hoped to know sooner so we could plan out a visit. U of M is not close enough for a random visit. She has friends who go there and she is getting good feedback from them.

Someone mentioned that it appears as though U of M has possibly made fewer offers through this early phase than in years past. Does that mean more offers than usual towards months end.

Let’s hope…

@J123D123 Best of luck to your daughter! I hear you about the wait, i hope your D will hear form UMich soon. We are still waiting about the UCs, and until then, we can’t really plan to visit UMich yet either.

@Nhatrang Which UCs? That wait was tough but my daughter loves USC. Apply there?

Nah…

Thank you. One of those things where we both will get the same notification on the same day and such…

Crash…

@camcam2022 no she didn’t apply to USC. I kind of wish she did. She applied to UCB, UCLA, UDSD and UCSB. Pretty much got into UCSB but she doesn’t want to go there (got the chancellor invite and apparently if you attended that meeting they told the students congrats you got in).

I got an email today saying o got rejected from the Geisinger scholarship. Anyone get it?

Honors Program?

I see where it says that interested students should apply once accepted by the University.

Who here has been accepted to U of M and then applied to the Honors Program? How quick is the turnaround decision from the school?

Any other insights into the Honors process would be helpful…

@J123D123
This link should have everything you need to know.
https://www.applytohonors.lsa.umich.edu/deadlines–requirements

DD applied before the March 5 deadline, according to the site she should hear back end of March. You need to write 2 essays, one is Why Honors and the second you choose 1 out of the 5 essay prompts.

Super,

Many of the Honors programs we have looked into have a few perks. Looks like the PPE major requires honors too.

What aspects of the Honors have you found most appealing?

Thanks Nha

@Nhatrang my brother loved UCSB and now resides in Sherman Oaks. Daughter got in to UCSB but felt the beach town scene would get old. Beautiful campus

@camcam2022 @Nhatrang - Beach scene for college never gets old. My oldest S went to SDSU and loved every year more than the preceding one.

@CaptainRonnie she loves the city so USC was a better fit but visits one of her close friends at UCSB. So pretty.

@camcam2022 When I was at Cal, i have a best friend who attended UCSB. I would drive there every other weekend to hang out with her, and our favorite thing to do there was going to the nude beach :-). And agreed @CaptainRonnie - becah scene NEVER gets old! Loved it!

How do you edit a post? becah = beach lol

@Nhatrang. After posting your post you have 15 minutes to edit the post. There is a little wheel like icon in the upper right. Press on that edit and press save changes. Yes, you can even go back to make more changes but only have a total of 15 minutes per post.

Thanks @Knowsstuff - And how do you quote someone?

@J123D123 - My son was admitted EA to LSA. He applied to Honors on 2/5/19 and was notified of admission into the honors program on 2/28/19.

Thanks Ikbux64

Kind of frustrates EA deferred D18 and the whole Remaining Deferred and RD Notification on April 1st and applying & knowing honors acceptance by May 1st decision day with a 23 day turn around. However it’s still plenty of time with another week before the May 1st decision day if accepted into the Honors School. I’m guessing the last Wave will have on balance a lot of high stat applicants OOS. I would imagine U of M has already gone after all the instate H S A as these State schools often look to them very early in the process to try and keep them instate.
