University of Michigan Class of 2023 Regular Decision

@pdxtigermom Yes, in-state is easier…one can debate how much easier, but definitely easier. But neither is easy!

For the Class of 2022, the in-state acceptance rate was 41% and the OOS acceptance rate was 19%. So, in-state is say roughly 2x easier than OOS. This is also bares out in the stats (i.e., test scores, GPA) for in-state vs. OOS. Stats for in-state acceptances are on average lower than OOS.

@altmusicman thanks! My son applied for dual-degree and we are out-of-state. He was accepted by SMTD already and hasn’t heard from CS yet. I understand CS is very competitive but not sure how competitive for out-of-state. He has 3.92 UWGPA, 36 ACT and 1590 SAT, full IB student, NMSF and U.S. Presidential Scholars candidate.

I’m out of state unfortunately, I live in PA so I know my chances are much lower. Trying to stay hopeful though! University of Michigan is one of my top choices, I know a few students from my school that have gotten in already with early action, their SAT was similar to mine but I know their unweighted is higher.

My D got RD LSA acceptance on March 1. We are out state.
Here is her stats:

GPA: 3.9 unweighted, 4.33 weighted
ACT: 36
SAT II: 800 on Math II & Chemistry
300+ volunteer hours + leadership

Does anyone know if Michigan admissions gives a boost to applicants from an underrepresented state? Son applied RD to Michigan earlier this year and we live in a state with only 4 undergraduates currently attending Michigan (according to College factual). Being a public institution, I would not think Michigan is concerned with geographic diversity but I don’t know for sure.

So how does RD decisions work lol? Got into LSA through EA, just curious

@BreakingBadViking same as EA. Happy ending if you get in, like in your case!

How long after you guys got your email acceptance did you get a letter?

About 4-5 days!

Are there any news about what specific date will the decisions be released in?

anyone know when rd decisions will or might come out?

My daughter and I are travelling to Ann Arbor on Friday to attend campus day on Saturday. I am trying my best to sell Michigan to my daughter, can anyone suggest some cool restaurants unique to the area that have a long campus tradition ?

There are many great spots downtown. The Chop House is very nice, where my son always wants me to take him for a great dinner when I visit. Expensive though. For a more hip vibe, try Savas. Right downtown within walking distance from campus. Be sure to have a drink at the Graduate bar. Good luck!

“long campus tradition” Brown Jug and Game Keepers… These are legend places to go. They are close to each other also.

You mean Scorekeepers? aka Skeeps

Oops. Still a fun place

I’ve been reading through these threads and it seems like a lot of deferred students send LOCIs. It would be pointless to send one for applying regular decision right? Not sure how it works…

I think the point of a LOCI is for students who are deferred or wait listed to let admissions know that they still very much want to be admitted. If you have just applied RD and are still waiting on a decision I am not sure there is any need for a LOCI.

If I have some new activities that were not listed before on my application, such as being inducted into National Honors Society, should I contact Michigan to notify them of this update or would it have no effect on my chances at this point.
