I noticed there wasn’t a thread for regular decision, just a deferred one so here it is.
ha it’s cause everyone got deffered
I’m applying RD, I hope I get in, UMich would be amazing to attend though it’s not my absolute number 1 (that school would be Vandy)
In that case shaun, I hope you are rejected by Michigan but admitted to Vanderbilt!
My number 1 is UMICH (salty got deferred.) I personally think OOS, being asian, and my gpa (3.6 uw and 3.97 w) killed me. But hey I am speculating.
@bjlu20 Not due to Asian, but being OOS with a low GPA is sufficient to kill your chance. Did you recalculate your uwGPA without subgrade?
@billcsho if u mean subgrade as A+, A, A-, I have not calculated the letter alone. (Im doing it rn and it is drum roll plz UHHH it is apparently a 4.0 LOL)
EDIT I cant add is 3.65
@bjlu20 If your original uwGPA is 3.7 and you have A- in all classes, then your UM recalculated GPA would be 4.0. With a 3.6 uwGPA, it cannot be recalculated into 4.0.
@billcsho Do you know whether UM considers freshman year ?
@annamom Since they resumed GPA recalculation many years ago, they include all classes from all grades.
thanks
@billcsho How does u mich calculate GPA?
@confused6789 Ignore the subgrades and calculate the average from all classes. A=4, B=3, etc.
@billcsho I just saw your comment about OOS and low GPA being sufficient to kill chances. Just applied today and now I know I’m already screwed.
@frazzledazzle Did you recalculate your uwGPA in UMich’s way and also check the Naviance data of your school?
@billcsho My school calculates GPA that way, anyway, and my school doesn’t use Naviance. One person from my school is at UMich right now but he’s insanely smart.
@billcsho oops i meant 3.65 something
@bjlu20 If it is not 3.7 or higher and there is no B at all, it cannot be recalculated into 4.0.
Anyone know about Michigan’s policy with sat scores submission deadline. I sent my scores from the college board website a few days before the deadline but as I speak on deadline day, the order has not been fulfilled. Will this be an issue?
@fcahsrs Have you submitted an previous score earlier? There is no reason to wait till the last few das to submit score as it can be sent months (or even years) ahead of your application.
