University of Michigan Deferred Applicants Class of 2022

@Veronica02 I agree with you. My son has had Michigan as his #1 and every other school a very distant 2, 3, etc. So much so I was very worried that if he is not admitted to MI, he would have trouble buying in to another school with the same enthusiasm. Since getting deferred, he has been accepted to 2 other very good schools and I think now he can see himself somewhere else and I can see the excitement. Big relief for this mom. Now, if he gets that YES from MI, I’m sure he’ll accept, but at least he knows he has options that he’s happy about. In fact, we’ve planned a campus visit for one of the schools that accepted him.

For those who got great news last night and today, would you mind sharing basic stats and in-state or OOS?

Is there anyone getting in CoE, OOS?

@pepper5420 @csekar15

Accepted OOS(PA)
COE
ACT 35
GPA 4.6 not sure unweighted
lots of AP classes with 5’s on all tests taken
I think good letter of rec’s (did not see) and good essays
Sent LOCI early with not response sent another last week.GC called admissions right after the deferral to let them know would accept if offered admissions.

Got the so called good deferral letter but really not sure if there is a difference.
Decision tab disappeared about 5pm yesterday and decision tab came back exactly at midnight with acceptance.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Accepted OOS! 34 ACT, 4.85W GPA, a good amount of AP/IB classes, good but not fantastic EC’s

Good luck! Go Blue!

If we didn’t hear anything today does anyone know when the next decision releases are expected to happen?

Hey guys, so I just sent my LOCI yesterday with no update to my admissions decision yet. Do you think it was too late or am I just stressing for no reason? I also just sent my first semester grades which were straight 6/7s in my IB curriculum. Does this factor in as well?

does anyone know if they released these new decisions all at once, or are they released over the course of the day?

Yeah, I just my grades just got updated on wolverine access but my view decision tab is still highlighted. do you think that this means my decision will be coming most likely in march?

I posted my stats earlier, but I just wanted to say that I didn’t submit a formal LOCI. All I did was send an email asking if I should submit an LOCI, and wanting to express my strong interest in attending if admitted. I received a very nice message telling me NOT to submit an LOCI, and that my grades would be sufficient. I also got the “good” deferral if that means anything. Regardless, GO BLUE! Good luck to everyone, I’m sure there are a ton of future Victors who haven’t heard yet!

@davethedeferred I went thru last year’s thread and it seems to me they come thru all at once overnight. Ppl report their acceptance throughout the day, based on when they learned or posted, but it doesn’t appear that the portal changes during the day. After that it seems like new acceptances go out weekly. I’d be happy to be wrong but that’s what I see.

What is this “good” deferral that people are talking about?

Re: the link between the different versions of the auto-reply message to LOCI. For what it is worth, I just spent way too much time researching this from past threads, but it seem to hold true at my school in NY: The three kids from my high school who got acceptances yesterday received a reply to their LOCI (not originally deferral letter) that described them as “very strong” or “excellent” candidates and the rep mentioned something about “continuing to advocate for your admission.” Those whose “view decision” tab is still there with no change in status received replies to their LOCI that did not mention anything about what type of candidate they were and mentioned nothing about advocating for them.

I got in this morning. Im in California so OOS. 33 ACT 4.2 GPA. Sent in a LOCI and got a very generic response about a week later, I don’t think sending it in contributed to me being admitted. And my “view admission” button did not disappear.

@jrmNY2018 My son sent in LOCI and the response he got was the same you mention with “continuing to advocate for your admission.” His view decision tab is still there with no change in status.

@Barcelona97531 Did you check earlier this morning, and then check again later? Trying to figure out if they are sending out decisions throughout the day or just in one wave at midnight. What major?

My daughter is OOS sent in a LOCI 4.9 GPA all honors and AP lots of EC’s. I’m fairly certain her portal was updated around midnight. Not sure if more are being updated during the day. I did hear that more will come around 3 but have no idea if that is reliable info. Good luck!

@pepper5420 That is good news for you. Past threads indicate that the school will continue to release acceptances on the portal every Thursday night at midnight (sometimes Friday night too) through April. Those with that letter tend to get good news in the earlier waves (February and early March). All of this is from the 2021 Deferred EA thread on this site.

@pepper5420 I checked once after reading it was updated on here.

Did anyone in state get admitted today?
