University of Michigan EA class of 2020 thread

@McKilla99 Exactly what I thought!

It’s true… But they had ALOT more applications than expected last year so they could’ve gotten to them all this year

15% would be equivalent to an ivy acceptance rate for early.

@Shikahana based on the numbers on this page http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-michigan-ann-arbor/1809849-university-of-michigan-ea-class-of-2020-thread-p21.html, EA admit rate was ~29%

if i don’t get accepted to the college of engineering will they automatically consider me for undecided?

@xxdanixx according to the umich admissions tumblr, no.

I’ve heard early action is about 30%, but if you don’t get in early, you are considered during regular decision. The overall acceptance rate is 27% for the university.

There are three possible decisions an applicant may receive: admit, defer, or deny. Admit and deny are final decisions and will be viewable on a link labeled “View Decision” on the application status link of your New & Prospective Student Portal. Defer means your application requires additional consideration. Because defer is not a final decision, it will not appear on the application status link.

They don’t reject anybody in early action

@xxdanixx No. They only consider you for the college for which you apply. I’ve heard of some people who were deferred and then call admissions to switch their app to LSA and got in. I don’t know how true this is but it’s a thought.

Does anyone know how decisions are sent out? Do they do it in waves or all at once? Northeastern sent them out in waves by region over a 5 hour period and it was miserable.

So based on what people are saying, you’ll only know that you were deferred if there is no decision link? Or when you check the status box that now say EA qualified, it’ll say regular decision or something like that?

Last year it seemed to be waves but not by region. There were a whole bunch of deferral comments posted before one acceptance one was. If I remember correctly, deferrals were just before 3 and acceptances around 3:15. After that, it seemed a bit jumbled with people who may have checked wolverine access a bit later, didn’t see their email etc.

Though deferral is not bad, I can’t help wishing for a miracle. This break could be so much nicer if I get admitted.

Every time my notification thing on College Confidential has more than 10 notifications I get so nervous that they released decisions. :expressionless:

Just got in!!!
