University of Michigan Fall 2017 Transfer

@luckybaby hey, im an intl applicant too. from which country are you applying? have you completed all your prereqs ?

I just called the admission officer and she said she didn’t hear that.

Since we are only a week away from mid-April, what day of the week does Michigan release their decision? Especially for Engineering since not a lot of students heard back.

Lastly, when we hear back please list your stats, major, and the decision. I hate going back and forth between pages to check the major and stats of whoever posts their decision.

Hey so does anyone know if it is a problem if my credentials tab on my wolverine access is blank except for AP tests? I submitted my transcripts and everything but they aren’t listed. I applied to CoE btw

I’m still waitng on LSA too. Was very surprised I didn’t get decision today.

Also I’m guesing that one poster is lieing. Why would he/she be the only one to receive the email? doesn’t make any sense

So does the order you get in have any implications for how good they thought you were. That is to say, were people who were admitted earlier stronger applicants than people who were admitted later, or is the date decisions come out random?

I’m curious because I still have a couple of applications outstanding.

i got rejected due to missing prereqs (its actually not true!!) and this is what i have on wolverine access:

“Thank you for your application to the University of Michigan College of Engineering. After an individualized and comprehensive review of your application and all related materials, a decision has been made. We regret that we are not able to offer you a place in our upcoming class. An official communication will be sent to your email address on file.”

“After an individualized and comprehensive review of your application and all related materials”
Does it mean that i got rejected no matter what even if i explained to them i actually will have completed all prereqs by the end of the term??? is that the letter they sent to everyone who got rejected or they have looked at everything besides missing prereqs and considered me under qualified???

I got rejected due to missing prereqs, however, this is what I have on wolverine access:

For the applicants that were missing prereqs, how many classes did you not fulfill? If you’re only missing 1 prereq will they reject you right away, or do they have some lenience?

admitted to CoE on April 6th! Got decision around 12 PM and email around 6 PM! Applied on 1/22, OOS

@Iapplyanywhere i dont know how they evaluate prereqs, at least i will have completed all prereqs by the end of this semester. i can think of several reasons that cause their confusion in my case: 1. i didnt take cal2 and they didnt look at my ap report 2. i took Java and maybe they only want students who took C++??? 3. lab components of physics courses do not have credit, so they might consider that i need to take physics labs??? 4. i am taking mechanics this semester and they didnt look at my current semester schedule
i believe that they will reject u even if ur missing only one prereq

Also I am going to be a sophomore this fall, finishing my prereq this summer

@luckybaby the university of Michigan- ann arbor sent me a acceptance package through the mail and emailed me a couple days before that
good luck!

i emailed them regarding prepreqs and they said that i do not satisfy the requirements for physics courses, mth216, and eng125. I do not understand how these courses can not transfer if they are the only equivalent courses provided in my current institution??? and they said that my D made me less competitive just because I missed the final and earned a D and am going to retake the course some time??? my institution is top 35 university so the courses should not be easier than those at umich??? why they are not transferable???

@greenteaa I think this is the wrong place to ask… We’re all students like you. Unfortunately, a D usually severely hurts an application, regardless of the university that assigned it. I can imagine that it’s especially competitive for STEM majors too.

@lexluther96 i emailed them back and am still waiting for a response… so even if they know that I earned a D because I missed the final, they still regard me under qualified??? it is even not a transferable course at umich, why do they need to take that grade srsly…

@greenteaa Because the applicant pool is pretty competitive. U-M is ranked like 28, they have a D1 football team, and their science programs are very good (and thus more competitive). A lot of people want to attend. Missing a final unless it was for extenuating circumstances (e.g. you were in a major accident) isn’t usually an acceptable reason for getting a D. They expect you to be there and to take responsibility. If something big did happen, then an email might help, but if you’re missing several pre-reqs, then it probably won’t. I’m sorry

@greenteaa You said after you removed your D, you still have 3.72. Believe me, a 3.72 won’t make the cut for engineering unless you have a lot of EC’s to make up for it. How many credits will you have by the time you get to Umich? If it’s less than 55 credits, then you should wait until you get there.

@EngineEstein around 85 crs by the time of fall. from what i remembered in the past people whose gpa greater than 3.4 have a good chance to get in CoE… and average gpa is absolutely different in each college… my college is ranked like 33 in the nation and gpa here is not easy to get. people who get more than 3.8 are mostly those who could get in ivy leagues and came here with full scholarship. 3.4 can earn u a place in dean’s list. and i saw some people who got 3.3 or 3.4 in old threads got in CoE why u say that 3.7 dont have a chance to get in CoE? it seems like you are looking down on those who got less than 3.8???why???
