aww that sucks~ I’m also trying to apply as a first-year transfer student for junior status but for CoE.
I have a 3.88 GPA so I guess my chances aren’t as high as I’d hoped
I’m honestly not sure what it depends on, because I pretty much had good everything. Even for high school, I did good and ended with a 4.0 unweighted GPA. The only thing I could think of was my ACT that was below average (27). I think they don’t like first-year transfers. But I hope you get in!
Hey, sorry if I’m bothering you, but can you expand on what major you applied for, what kind of classes you took, what your test scores looked like, ECs, and who wrote your letter of rec?
Maybe essays and the rigor of your course schedule? I couldn’t tell you for sure but I understand how you feel. I was rejected last year and am expecting the same this year with a 3.8/3.9 in high school, 4.0 in college.
Do you mind sharing your SAT score if you took it? I took my SAT two years ago and didn’t receive a good score on it so I’m a little worried if they won’t get accepted me because of that.
I took the ACT and got a 27, which is like a 1290 SAT score. If you’re not a first-year student, they generally don’t take your pre-college scores/grades into account too much, so you shouldn’t worry much.
I am a first-year transfer~ I guess I’ll put my stats here:
Out-of-state Applicant
Mechanical Engineering
2.9 HS GPA
3.9 College GPA, 41 units completed(20.5 units this past fall w/ a 4.0), enrolled in 20 units
11 AP Tests Passed
1460 SAT
Science Olympiad State Medalist, now volunteer for HS team
VP of Christian Club on campus
Yang 2020 Campaign Volunteer
for anyone who applied to transfer through the Common App, does your status through their website still say UMich hasn’t received your college transcript, even though Michigan’s app portal says they have? Don’t know if this is worth freaking out over, just anxious. Thanks!
Hey guys, a quick question. Does UMich look at the experiences folder in the common app? I had only put two experiences down at the time of submitting my app cuz someone told me I could just update it later but now i looked into it and UMich doesnt receive my updates. Im gonna call tomorrow but anyone have any advice?
I don’t think you can update it and personally at this point I would let it be. I think they would view it as ‘‘immature’’ and a sign of not enough interest if you told them that the reason you didn’t put more experiences down was that you were going to do it later. That’s just me but you can do as you want.
Thanks for the advice, yea I called them today. They will not accept anything else. I really messed this one up. I have 8 letters of recommendation that detail a different experience while I was at college, but I doubt they’ll even read two or three.
