University of Michigan or UCLA for engineering

I recently got in the university of Michigan and ucla for engineering. I am either doing mechanical or civil engineering. Currently the schools are about the same price and I am not focusing on weather or location. In terms of just engineering programs which one is better?

Michigan has a slightly better reputation for engineering, but if you know you want to live on the west coast after you are done, UCLA could be the better option. Otherwise, I vote Michigan.

UCLA is a great school and has the better weather, of course, but for engineering, I’d pick Michigan. (Assuming you’re a direct admit to the SoE there).

Can you afford them both? You’re OOS for at least one.

Both oos but ucla is much farther so it will be about the same price

Go to Michigan. Better for engineering. California also is still experiencing budget problems. It is affecting UC schools. Michigan has a much stronger financial status.

I would go for Michigan, unless you know that you intend on living in SoCal after college, in which case, UCLA could be a better option.
