***University of Michigan RD 2019 Official Thread***

@collegegal2019 I don’t think that’s a great idea. Try to negotiate and say you might not be able to attend without aid, but don’t mention specifics like Kelley. It’s not an auction.

I agree. Tell them that you really want to attend Michigan but can’t afford it—and that you need more aid. It’s highly probable that they will give it to you

collegegal2019 - I disagree with the last 2 posts. I think you would be better off mentioning Indiana. But don’t focus on the scholarship, focus on the difference in the net cost to you.

I suggest creating a table start with the total COA (tuition/housing) for each school, the subtract any aid - merit, grant Stafford, etc…and see what the net cost is. If Indiana is significantly lower, ask what Michigan can do to address that gap.

Another suggestion I would make is to bring anything about your families financial situation that has changed or that might not have been completely represented on the CSS or FAFSA. And ask that the re-evaluate your situation in light of that.

Just going in and saying Michigan is too expense sounds like whining to me and destined to fail. While I agree that it is not an auction or a negotiation, you do need to give them something to work with to reassess your situation.

RD International applicant here… I think the decision batch release on every Friday has been disproven, because some others on CC got it on other random days… I’m so nervous!!

I checked WA and it says that I submitted my application on the 2nd of February when I really sent it in on the 1st. Should I call into admissions and ask about it or do you think it doesn’t matter?

@girlfromworld1‌ I don’t think you need to worry. It would be a good idea to contact admissions though to be sure. I had the same thing happen to me when I applied November 1st and it said I applied the 2nd. I think that it is just the system processing your application.

I submitted my application on the 13th of November. Haven’t heard anything yet? Weren’t the decisions supposed to come out in April? :open_mouth:

@Digitallyshrewd‌ Don’t worry. We are in the same boat. Same thing here.

@uofmPlease nah, I’m just surprised that even when the U of M had written down “mid April” for its decisions, it’s already sending them out. Makes me nervous.

Applied Jan 9Th COE , admitted march 1st. It doesn’t seem to matter wether you applied early or not

@Digitallyshrewd‌ They say that all decisions will come out BY mid-April. I think they’ve been admitting RD people since the beginning of February.

@meriks‌ Congrats! Is March 1st when you got your email, or did WA update that evening?

@meriks same question, where do you see if you’re admitted or not in the portal?

@Digitallyshrewd‌ It has been reported that once the decision is available for view, a third link labeled “view decision” should pop up under the Application Status link.

Who thinks they will release decisions tomorrow, 3/13?

Tumblr says not a large batch. However, the UM admission tumblr states that if you applied on or before January 14th @ 11:59pm, you WILL receive a decision BY March 19 @ midnight

That’s good to know. But it also stresses me out! But thanks!

@jjh2003‌ Darn it. I would have applied much earlier than the last possible day if I had known that Michigan had somewhat a rolling notification process.

AT LEAST my wait (no matter the result) will be over in less than one week. Good luck to everyone!

You guys are gonna hate me…I didn’t read it right, it’s notification for honors. I am so sorry :frowning:
