I applied on 10/18 and was accepted EA to Michigan so i was expecting to get a decision for Ross today
i haven’t heard any rejections yet
I think they’re done releasing decisions for tonight, looks like it’s another week of waiting
S was accepted this afternoon. Email first telling him to check the portal. Classmate got in too.
Just an FYI: They don’t look at Ross applications until after said person is accepted. Thus, when you apply doesn’t change when you get your decision. It’s based on your essays and scores and I you’re immediately someone they want or if they’re thinking about it from what I understand.
Also: I have read stories of people who were defferred EA getting into Ross later after their decision on U or M was reached.
Accepted OOS - applied on 10/29!!!
What does it mean if you didn’t get a decision yesterday? Is it alphabetical?
I’m not sure. I didnt get a decision. Does that mean that we weren’t strong enough as those who were accepted yesterday and that they are still reviewing our decisions with the rest of the applicants? Were there any rejections yesterday?
@asdfghjkl940 I don’t believe it’s alphabetical, because my last name is in the middle.
I have the same idea. The first round picks at yesterday seem to apply for only applicants rated as “Outstanding” in EA applicants pool. I don’t know whether admission officers move on applicants with the second or the third categories (i.e., Excellent or Good ratings) in EA pool. I only know that they will notify the decisions until early April.
Just got into LSA today! Originally deferred EA. What’s the Pre-Admit decision schedule like?
@pdizzla no one really knows. Maybe a few more releases in February, going all the way till April
So I was told by a friend of mine who used to be a admissions officer that often times they rank students who get in on a scale between 5-3 and then they consider the 5’s(or outstanding students) first for pre admit, the majority of people who already received the offer to Ross are most likely ranked as 5s then they will slowly start moving down the scale
Just wondering, if the goal is to admit 500 freshmen pre admits, how many will get offers of admission? I would think the yield rate for pre admits is higher than the school average. Anyone have a guess as to how many will be offered pre-admit. Does 1000 sound right? more or less?
@BigPapiofthree Last year (on the old admissions system), 2,850 applied, 584 were admitted, and 261 ended up actually attending. For this year, there will likely be less applicants because of the portfolio requirement. It’s also worth taking into consideration that people who applied after the EA deadline aren’t even considered unless the spots aren’t filled by EA people; the university did a very poor job of getting this info out to anyone, so there may be quite a few people who decided to wait a little longer to complete their portfolio, missed the EA deadline, and are no longer considered priority.
All of this suggests that, for this year, the chances for someone to be accepted if they applied before the EA deadline is much higher than years past. There should be less applicants because of the Portfolio, and more people accepted because of their new goal (if yield rate stays the same, it’ll probably be over a thousand).

Ore with more preferred admission spots available, more may apply.
their goal is to take twice as many this year. I am surprised the number of applicants was not higher last year. I was thinking more might apply this year. I think in years past they lost kids because of few pre admits. this year maybe a lot more applied hoping for result. Tho, the supplement may have stopped some…who knows i guess that is why i asked…
@wayneandgarth @BigPapiofthree I would agree with you, however, before this year, the only thing you had to do to be considered for preferred admission was check a box on the common app. This is totally a guess, but I’d assume that previous applicants wouldn’t be turned off by the low acceptance rate since there was no effort in putting your name into consideration, and therefore no reason to not just apply to see if you get in early.
@pdizzla, you make a good point. Thanks for sharing it.
Im fairly certain there are going to be more applicants this year bc it is the only way to get into the program.
