University of Michigan Ross Preferred Admission Fall 2019

February 1st is the application deadline for LSA RD.

Feb. 1 is the last day to submit an application to the University of Michigan’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions and your Ross Admissions Portfolio for Regular Decision.

People are accepted into Ross right through to May. @Mamabear33. Call Michigan and get the correct answer. This way you will know without second guessing.

I think you can only apply as a sophomore to transfer

@MamaBear33, if your child submitted the Ross essays and portfolio by Feb 1, the application is timely and will be considered.

thanks. my child did not submit Ross application before the Feb 1 deadline. My child didn’t think Michigan was a reality after December deferral. My child clued in after subsequent acceptance on February 1. but now its too late.

@Mamabear33 it’s quite possible to get into Ross as a sophomore transfer, but I’d agree that you should make the decision based on LSA

@mamabear1234 did your child select preferred admission for ross on his/her original EA application?

No my child did not. I don’t think he understood. He checked LSA and I am guessing the plan was Economics… I think he was overwhelmed with supplemental’s at the time, UM didn’t seem like a real possibility and thought he could apply to Ross later. LSA would not be a deal breaker. I think its better to try to transfer (even thought its a long shot) rather than have half assed the essays for Ross and get denied—as I understand if denied then an application to transfer to Ross is not possible at all. I think Economics with a minor in Business at UM will be just fine! just trying to understand the full picture. There are only 500 Ross students taken each year? thanks for all the 411

@Mamabear33 what do you mean by all the 411?

@Mamabear33 Ross accepts 500 freshman and 125 sophomore transfers per year
That’s for the full major; I don’t have stats for the minors

@mamabear1234 Yep if I was not accepted into Ross, I was completely happy with majoring in economics and a minor in business. Go Blue!

@Itiznotfare 411 meaning information.

How many students apply to Ross under preferred admissions?

The U if M Ross Web Page also states there will be additional announcements on April 19th.

So in theory they have announced maybe 1/2 of all acceptances. Not an exact number but 1/2 of the dates have passed so still many acceptances to yet be announced.

Patience people.

Best of Luck to All

There are two more lwaves of Ross Decisions: March 29 and April 19

More than half the acceptances have been given out at this point. I would bet >75% at this time. Most people who decline admission will do so by 4/15 and open up slots for other people. However, the Ross yield tends to be high. My OOS daughter was accepted with the 1st wave, but is leaning to other programs. Michigan is basically giving her nothing in financial aid. However, she may get a full ride scholarship at the Canfield BHP program at McCombs Business at UT Austin. That would be hard to turn down

I agree with @illdad

Last year, for the entire freshman class there were 8,000 acceptances handed out in EA alone per a Michigan admissions insider here on CC. There’s no factual basis (inside or public info) to say this year is any different than last. And there have been two RD waves so far on 2/1 and 3/1.

I didn’t get any Ross update. Got accepted lsa 3/1

Rejected from Ross today, got accepted to LSA on 3/1. Probably going elsewhere :frowning:
