hmm i havent gotten anything from Ross, i hope they got my application and everything.

Deferred…2390/4.7+ GPA. Screw you Michigan, I’ve gotten into better schools and this pretty much guaranteed that I won’t be attending. Oh well.

Btw, pretty sure there’s no difference between “deferred” and “waitlisted” with regards to Ross preferred admission. They’re the same thing and if you look closely you’ll see that you got the same email…in both cases you’re not accepted nor rejected at this time and you’ll hear from them again in a month or so. Such a ridiculously long process, submitted my application in October…

I actually did not receive the same email as the “deferral” email. While the deferral email stated that they will hear back by the end of April, the wait-list one had a link to accept being placed on a wait-list to hear back after May 1st. Did anyone else receive this email?

“Screw you Michigan, I’ve gotten into better schools…”

Perhaps you didn’t put much effort into your essays? In any case, you won’t be missed.

I think in the case of my kid, they must be gambling that we have the $$ to pay for full OOS tuition. I think it’s really hard to predict these things though. Just waiting for Penn in a week in a half. And then I guess if my kid gets in, you have to wait a while longer for the FA info. It’s a lot to cram into April. I think it’s hard to choose an Ivy over a major public these days if she does get in. We’ve been to the Kelley and UIUC honors presentations. I think most kids are applying to the same set of business schools from the Midwest, although we know a few who are going the strictly private school econ route.

I haven’t gotten anything from UMich yet except for a confirmation that they received my application.
Apparently they also emailed my counselor to ask for my midyears before they were even out (only mine, no one elses). This is so sketchy… I don’t even know what to think lol

If you are admitted to UM, and you are part of the 2018 FB group- there is a posted message regarding Ross admissions and deferral consideration by a student who queried.

Illini parent - I applied to the same set of schools, also an Illinois native. Decided on Ross PA over Illinois/Kelley Honors. PM me if you have any questions.

Still waiting to hear in Southern California. Is Ross making decisions based on timing of acceptance into Michigan? My daughter was initially deferred EA and was accepted in late January. For those who received Ross decisions/deferrals, when were you accepted into Michigan?

I was accepted to Michigan EA in December and got into Ross a couple weeks ago.
@socalparent2

Thanks, WishfulWolverine for your response. Based on the comments in this thread, it doesn’t look like Ross sent out any additional decision announcements since March 14th. The rest of us will have to wait a few more days…

What does this mean?
Congratulations on your admission to the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan! We began reviewing your application for Preferred Admission to the Ross School of Business soon after you were admitted to the University on 3/13/2014. We perform a thorough holistic review for each application, and we have received a record number of applications this year. We are working diligently to return a final decision regarding your Ross Preferred Admission status as soon as possible – but it is possible we may not be able to deliver this decision before the May 1 matriculation deadline. Again, we will make every effort to have information in your hands prior to May 1, but you may need to complete your college enrollment process before you receive your final Ross BBA Preferred Admission decision.

Does it mean im deferred or waitlisted or something?

They’re informing you that you were admitted to LSA, and they haven’t finished making decisions on Ross applications yet. So you may be admitted or denied, but you gotta wait to find out.

@softcalculator I received the same email, wonder if it is a telling sign either way or what

@SupremeStudent Exactly. I’m not sure if I want to attend Michigan without knowing if I get into Ross or not. We’ll see. Maybe I’ll ask my college counsellor to called them and ask if it still doesnt come out in late april. I’m probably not getting in though cuz my grades aren’t that high. Meh.

I got deferred from UM (frankly I have no idea how) I basically gave up on Ross in December 8-|

@softcalculator I got in without stellar grades (rough frosh year) and no hooks. Even though my ACT score helped, anything is possible… have hope!

I was deferred from Ross and accepted EA LSA… Do I even have a chance?

Paid my Umich deposit today and accepted my Ross PA spot!! So excited!

Definitely have a chance. I almost gave up on Michigan after my rejection from lsa honors, but got into ross with a 2060 SAT. But I had a 770 on math so maybe that’s what pushed me over the edge. Only a 93 GPA but I’ve done well in the math subjects
