University of Michigan Standardized Test

What should i submit to mich? does it require and sat 2's?
Old sat: 800 V, 720 M
760 V, 710 M

New: 700CR, 700 M, 670 Writing, 12 Essay

ACT: Eng 34 reading: 32 math: 32 science: 35 composite: 33
eng 33 reading 34 math 36 science 28 composite 33 reading/writing (12 essay)34

also does anyone know how you are considered for scholarships at michigan? i feel like my grades and EC's are strong so and michigan could be a strong possibility if i get a lot of money.

you probably should post this in the umich forums...

I don't think it requires SAT II's, but when you submit anything SAT-related from collegeboard, they send all your scroes anyway, old and new. I don't know about ACT's, but they look good. So... pick one or just send both?

Umich scholarships are awarded on a first-come first-served basis and the criteria gets stricter as the year goes on. I think the earliest priority deadline is Nov 1. An out-of-state scholarship (forgot the name) got the deadline at Dec 15. I think. check on their website to be sure.

UMich does not require SAT IIs and you don't say what your scores are. Your ACT scores are considerably stronger than your SAT scores, so I would recommend just sending your best set of ACT scores.

my sat2's aren't that strong either, 700-750's

linkin, youre kidding right?

i don't think they're strong when you consider im applying to ivies

These are fine! But, remember if you submit them, U of M will see your SAT I scores, too. The College Board does not allow score suppression...that is, if you submit any SAT score, they send them all. The ACT permits you to select which set of scores you wish to send.

if i send both act's, will they look at my best scores in more consideraiton? cuz when u do that, my composite is more of a 35 (i can't believe i bombed sceince after getting 35 the first time)

Interestingly, though some (but not all) colleges will combine best scores on SATs to come up with a total, they rarely do so for ACT, which doesn't have a total score, but a composite. Your composite was the same for both sets, but one had no scores <32 while the other had a 28. I'd send the one with the higher component scores.

You're in awesome shape for Michigan.

exactly what do you guys recommend i send to maximize scholarship opportunities?

SEND ACT onlY. :)

should i sent both acts? the second one has a writing test as well and did well on a lot of sections but just killed science for some odd reason.

bump...i would like to get my mich app done as i sent everything and just need to decide my scores.

OK, my comment was directed toward your applying to UMich, but even to the Ivies, low 700 SAT 2s are not really low (my S got accepted to any Ivy with only 2 over 700.

ok thanks. i hate it when others ask what i get on standardized test. they are solid scores, but not perfects. i just see standardized tests as confirmation that i'm at a certain level of academic performance. all other areas i think are strong.

I still think that 700-750s are strong. CC can skew perspective. (And, in my above post, I can't correct it, but it should read "an Ivy" not "any Ivy.") Anyway, his 2's were 760, 720, 640, 640, and he didn't stress too much over them (not a stress type of kid). And he got in. If you are strong in all other areas, you should not make yourself nuts over this one piece.

i'm 750, 730, 720, 710, 680

so ... shoudl i send BOth act's or just the first one. refer to scores in first post.

i would send the act with writing, although they dont recquire it, i think it looks a lot better
