I just got my SAT scores back yesterday and they were lower than I'd hoped, so now I'm extremely worried about my chances at my top schools. Should I even apply / visit? I am a HS Junior

Sounds like you have a good chance to me. That GPA is amazing! Just make sure you try to get at least in the 2000s for your SAT score, but even your score now isn’t that bad. I’d say you have more of a chance for University of Michigan. It also depends where you live, the closer the better. If anything, I’d say make sure you have some sort of leadership role but being a cheer captain is being a leader, so yeah, I’d say you have a pretty good shot. Good job!

Thanks! @helpmeyolo

Good statistics, decent extracurricular activities = good/decent chances.

Your SAT score is way too low for these 2 schools. Where is your home state and what is your intended major? Try to bring up your SAT by 300+ points for these schools.o
For your information, the mid 50 SAT for UMich last year was 2030-2250.

@billcsho I am a Washington State resident, and I intend to major in South Asian Studies. I will definitely work on improving my SAT scores; I know they are sub-par.
@wannabefeynman Thanks for your input!
