Here are my top choices:
1) UMich
2) UCLA
I haven't decided the others yet, but I think will be around those with the same standards.

I'm in Michigan (In Ann Arbor), Indian (East)
Ok, so here is the deal. I just started my junior year. And this what has gone down so far:

My grades (sophomore):
3.7 W/ 3.4 UW(core classes, no grade boosts)
I took all the hardest classes possible except no "English Intensive"

Now my junior year:

Schedule, and grade:
Spanish 4AC (A)
Chemistry AP (A)
Math Analysis AP (Precalc) (B)
English AP (A)
Symphony Orchestra (A?)
History AP (B)

ECs:
Spanish Honorary Society
Active member of Indian Club
Have a job at UofM as lab assistant
Private Violin/Symphony Orchestra (ranked #1 HS music prog in country)
NHS?- I was sent an invite but I am a bit worried that I might not get in due to lack of prior community service...

SAT (Anticipated): 2100 (I got 2090 on the last practice test)

The question(s): How important are community service/volunteer hours? I don't really have any! Would joining Key Club help? Does service count when it is from other clubs? How much would losing out on NHS hurt, if I get rejected b/c of previous lack of community service?
Also: I don't have any awards?

Anything advice? Thank you very much. Umich is my first choice.
