University of Michigan Waitlist 2024

I meant to say 6 reasons - I am sure there are more.

BTW - this is slightly off topic - but one of our best family friends is a nurse (she works at the executive level in our state).  She says the coronavirus will calm down in July of this year and will return (they are 100% sure) in October of this year.  They are hoping to find treatments from 4 set of drugs: malaria, arthritis, alzheimer’s and malaria and a vaccine by Summer 2021 - which is the time they think this will all calm down.

Think of the above scenario in relation to colleges and their admissions/attendance next year.

what are the chances people decide not to pursue nursing because of what is happening right now?

@katebee1 - the corona virus is short term and a career in nursing is long term. I don’t think it would impact it - think 9/11, people still became fire fighters.

I sent a LOCI and wondering if sending an extra letter of rec would be overkill or not

I don’t no about or some will decide not to do nursing. I would assume a few. I have a medical assistant that wants to go into being a NP or PA. She doesn’t want to come to work due to the virus. She doesn’t want patient contact. She is doing some other things for us. I told her to reconsider those fields. In my mind you either have the will for it or you don’t. Can’t pick and choose who you want to treat or not.

That’s my view.

where did you send the LOCI too?

@ihatecollege751 where did you send the LOCI too?

@elise5 i sent it to my admissions counselor

@ihatecollege751 did your admissions counselor respond after you sent them your loci?

I was waitlisted as well.

My DS reached out to his AC earlier today primarily to ask a couple of questions about the WL process. However, he did work into the e-mail that if offered, he was coming for sure, 100%. In short, they do roll out between now and Mid-June and they don’t necessarily send out declines.

Agree with all six points. My daughter was declined last week and the next day was offered a waitlist position. Has anyone ever heard of this happening?

I have not.

I guess that would be much easier than apply directly from high school

@Ramm1975 yes but it was obviously a cookie-cutter email :frowning:

Does mich accept LOCI or is that something that they don’t recommend

What did all of your decisions letter say? Mine said something about regretting to inform me I could not be offered a place in spite of my family’s ties to Michigan. I’m not legacy tho, did everyone get this?

@Meepmopderpmerp I got that as well, but I am legacy.

do we know how many people were waitlisted this year?
