I could be wrong but I personally think it will be a wave of OOS students- bigger and smaller schools have already released waves multiple times. (UCLA, Duke, NYU, etc.) Also, somebody on this thread said they called and they’re not admitting anymore in-state kids off the waitlist and only OOS kids. (most likely because they pay significantly more) Don’t know how reliable that is but just based on other colleges and the situation with covid-19 that is my prediction- I’m probably wrong though so idk lol.
Good luck to all on the waitlist!
Thank you :’)
dear Michigan, please accept me.
Dear Michigan,
please accept me.
Best regards,
Edmund
If the housing deadline is 5/13 (says on the housing website) how does it work for waitlisted applicants?
Email housing. They are pretty quick to get back. Try calling but not sure anyone is on site. If you mean you just got off the wait list? Then you should still be good. If you mean your accepted and don’t have your housing assignment? Things will be different this year and maybe the website is not up to date but definitely email /call to clarify.
Hoping for a 5/8 wave
Hoping for a wave today, since all of my decisions happened on thursday (also the first wave happened on a Thursday), though not likely.
I’m thinking maybe next week or next next week
do they have to reply BY 5/8 or END of day because that changes it
We should call the AO and ask if there will be any acceptances off the waitlist for in-state applicants.
@rafanadal1234 i think someone already did, go back a couple pages
I believe waitlist offers need to be accepted by end of the day on 5/8.
I believe I have heard interviews which stated in-state enrollment is not expected to be lower this year compared to prior years.
@panda2002 rip to instate kids
more people who got accepted EA/RD in-state are probably accepting that offer so they probably already have that filled
Is it possible that there are not going to be any instate kids accepted off the waitlist??
@ojo123456 that’s what some kid said earlier on this thread when he called the AO- however, nobody knows if he was telling the truth/how reliable that is. The only thing you can do is compare it to other schools. I was admitted off of NYU’s waitlist yesterday and I asked for no aid- I saw on reddit that almost everybody who was granted acceptance there yesterday asked for no aid either. I think that’s been a pattern with a lot of other schools too due to covid-19 and how much money these universities are losing. My best guess is that they will admit OOS students who don’t need aid but honestly, who knows at this point.
@ojo123456 there will probably be a few acceptances for in-state kids but the chances are very slim
This has been stated but they want to balance in and out of state students. So if more OOS are staying home and going local then there is a glut of lost OOS students. So they have to offer even more OOS students to make up the difference so they can stay close to the 50/50 in/out state (not real numbers). They also have a 25% LOSS of international students that pay full freight. This is a business and have to make up that money plus the major loss from the hospital they run . The more full pay the better.
