University of Michigan Waitlist 2024

Yea but at least they took some action, unlike the other ones

it’s all up in the air right now. just how it works sometimes but that’s ok we will get thru it and succeed

Dear Michigan, please accept me

dear michigan, please accept me.

@maduka if they over-enrolled why would they still admit somebody off the waitlist?

Ross is different. Ross could be empty while the others are over enrolled

Hey y’all I’m parent of a few umich, msu and osu kids ( yes, game days are very tense in our house). Just very concerned about the amount of posts hoping for admission and I worry some parents are causing stress for their kids during this demanding time. Years ago I got into a huge argument with my son his senior year when he was waitlisted and chose to attend msu. We didn’t talk for years and I regret it very much. It wasn’t till recently when he started a fin tech position (200k) he reached out to help out our youngest with tuition. Please realize that it’s tough for kids to be waitlisted and it’s important that you are encouraging your kids to get excited about their chosen college.

^^^. Well said.

In our house my son was allowed to apply to any school of his choosing… Except Ohio State… Lol ?

There was a call scheduled with the president of Umich on a local news channel to discuss the future of michigan- since I’m OOS I didn’t catch it- I was wondering if anybody saw it and if there was anything important worth sharing

Part of it was shared on their facebook page. It talked about classes in the fall, nothing really related to the waitlist. So yea, we’re kinda screwed

what did they say about classes in the fall?

prolly online and smaller classes in person

He has been on prior on a few interviews. Large classes online. Small classes /labs /TA groups in person is the theory.

yup, nothing new

@lilykinda - I have found the College Confidential parents to be pretty savvy. I doubt any parent who comes to College Confidential would be relying on Michigan as their sole source of admission for the Fall 2020 - for a child. I am sure the parents still hoping for Michigan have also paid a deposit somewhere else and are taking the necessary steps for their to attend that school - just in case they do not get a positive answer from Michigan.

I am not trying to be mean, I just can’t see a parent savvy enough to come to this site, not having a contingency plan - heck, they might not even be telling their kids they are coming here.

lolllll yea, my mom is telling me to give up Michigan and focus on Georgia tech

But heck Michigan is the dream :’)

@Maduka. The students on the wait list all tend to have great colleges to go to. Kids would kill to get accepted into GT! My son was wait listed but didn’t care since he was accepted to Michigan. We thought the school was fantastic in many ways
They are both great schools.

In about another month you should have a better picture of your situation. If it doesn’t work out with Michigan just know your going to an amazing university.

Yea I know it’s a great school, but I’d be excited if they didn’t give me a gap year offer :frowning:

Anyway I really hope something happens with UMich

Um-Dearborn (one of the three UM schools) has announced its fall 2020 schedule. All the courses will be online except a few that need to be in class. Will Umich follow in their footsteps and what does this mean for us waitlisted students? Also, will more people choose to take a gap year if umich is online?

@dep123 where did they announce this?
