University of Michigan Winter 2019 Transfer Thread

I applied last year for the fall of 18 and was not accepted, but they promoted me to resubmit for the winter of 2019 which I did but I haven’t heard back yet… does anyone know when decisions are supposed to all be out by

Hi! I’m currently a freshman applying from the University of Pittsburgh. I would have completed 38 credits by the end of this year, and here are my stats:

College GPA: 3.942
SAT: 1300
High School GPA: 91% or a 3.7
I took 5 APs and almost every honors class in my school.
Majors: Environment and/or Sociology
Jobs: currently have 3 as a summer camp counselor, research assistant, and Jumpstart corps member (preschool teacher)
Activities: many leadership positions, and I edit the campus sociology journal

I just applied and am really nervous! Could anyone tell me what my chances would be? Thank you so much!

Hi,
Chance me please,
3.46 GPA, OOS, URM (Hispanic), community college
76 credits
good essays,
great LOR
ECs include spending a significant amount of time mixing cover projects, food bank, Salvation Army, SkillsUSA Officer pat time job, one IT internship back in 2016 (Really it was a contract job) withdrew from 3 classes back in 2014 but came back when I decided I wanted to become a software engineer, and kicked ass in those classes, mostly As, a couple of Bs in my non major classes due to dumb mistakes.
Applying from FL, which is apparently over represented?
Any feedback is much appreciated.

Hello! I’m not sure if anyone will actually get back to me, but I applied to transfer into LSA for fall 2019, but I got rejected. In my decision email it said,

"The quality of academic work you demonstrated last semester was impressive, and it was noted in the evaluation of your application.

If your interest in attending the University of Michigan continues, you should continue to build upon the strong academic performance you have shown and update your application for consideration for the next available term. Please request this update in writing prior to the deadline of your desired new term of entry."

Did any of you guys get this? Do you think I would have a chance at getting in for the Winter 2020 term? Thank You!

Hey @kmalin I actually applied for the Fall of 2019 as a transfer, but I definitely think you could give it a shot. With that being said, what were your stats (if you’re comfortable sharing), and are you an OOS applicant or in-state? If you’re the latter, then you definitely have a really good chance of getting in. Also, I think the email you got is standard. I got a similar one in high school.

@NBAEXPERT i’m currently attending a private 4 year college just outside of NYC, I’m an oos applicant (live in NYC), and my current gpa is a 3.4, but since i didn’t have enough credits to be at junior standing, they had to look at my hs transcript and i did horrible in hs. i would have 57 credits prior to fall 2019, and im guessing i will have about 72 before winter 2020.

@kmalin Interesting. I think you should try applying for the Winter semester (although I probably won’t if I get denied). Their website says you should be at Sophomore or Junior standing. Does this mean that if you’re at Sophomore standing that they weight your high school GPA more?

@NBAEXPERT I’m currently a second semester sophomore at my college but i’m down 3 credits because i dropped a class. I’ve heard that the farther away from high school you are, the less they weigh in your hs gpa.

@kmalin Definitely go ahead a re-apply. Sophomore standing is 30+ credits, by the way. Are you at 27 or something?

@NBAEXPERT wow i just saw this now haha but no i have 57 credits. my winter 2020 application is already showing on my wolverine access!

hello!! so i got my spring 2019 grades back and i ended up getting four A’s and a C- … italian really isnt my thing lol. when i applied for the fall term, admissions told me to keep up a strong academic record and apply for the next term, so i pushed my application back from fall 2019 to winter 2020. do you think the four A’s would still count as building up a strong academic record? or would the C- royally screw up my chances?

Hey guys! Another Winter 2020 transfer (sophomore) here. Anyone know the stats of accepted oos transfer LSA students?

What do you guys think about applying as a summer 2020 transfer vs. fall 202 transfer? Need some advice about this
