Has anyone heard from michigan from the february 10th date? We have not heard a thing.

If I were you, I'd call the department and ask when you should expect to hear. The fact that it is April 15 and the National Reply Date for when students must indicate their plans to matriculate is May 1, it is difficult if you do not have all your college decision "cards" on the table in order to make an informed decision. I would not hesitate to call and ask the status of the situation regarding notification. Most colleges send out decisions by April 1. I do not know UMichigan's process with regard to dates but it certainly is OK to ask them as an applicant. Don't wait at this point as you must reply to other colleges in about two weeks.

Does anyone know how many people generally get accepted off the waitlist (if any)?

Do you guys know whether it was tough to get in to Umich this year

Oh my goodness - that is an understatement! First, you must pass the academic requirements to be invited to audition. Then, you have to get accepted from the audition and review of your file.

I continue to be impressed with UM's program and their incredible students who have gotten into this highly selective school. Their audition day was great.

I think most people are only posting acceptances and not rejects on the big lists, but I can tell you from meeting and networking with many people this audition season that everyone we knew, including my son, was rejected from UM, and they were all disappointed. From our experience (and he didn't try for all the highly selective schools), CMU was the other one for which many we knew auditioned and from which they were all rejected (again, including my son). I remember last year's CC postings being similar - many are trying for both of these programs and very few are getting in.

Can students who were accepted share what their audition songs and monologues were? It is always helpful to hear about material used each year. Some MT schools post what NOT to use for their auditions.

Forgive me if this info is right here before my eyes ... I am taking the fast, lazy and convenient way out by just asking those of you who know more than I do!

How many students does UMich typically accept into each year's freshmen class? And do they accept equal numbers of girls and boys?

Lisa

Lisa,

I called UMich a few weeks ago to ask that same question and was told that
they like to have a class of around 18-20 freshman in MT. They said they do offer a few spots over that to yield that amount. I was also told that last year 450 auditioned for MT(more than that apply but do not get asked to audition). Hope that helps a little.
