I was admitted into the University of MN Twin Cities in the college of liberal arts. I have had good grades up until this year, as well as a good ACT score, and many extracurriculars. Unfortunately this year, I have had poor attendance due to health complications as well as being diagnosed with ADHD. I am taking all AP/CIS classes this year, but I am doing poorly in AP Literature/Comp. and AP Calculus. What are the chances my acceptance will get revoked? I am really nervous because my whole family has attended the UMNTC and its my dream school. Any advice?
No D’s no F’s no felonies. That tends to be the rule, although admittedly it can change at any time. You won’t need to submit a transcript till you’ve graduated so you have plenty of time to hunker down and get those grades up to a B. If poor attendance is threatening your required number of school days, you will need to get to your counselor pronto and work out a way to remedy that. And are you currently taking a course of ADHD medication because that’s gonna help a ton.
Enlist your parents’ help on stuff like organization and getting stuff in on time. And be sure to have your eval. report sent to UMN or wherever you end up so that you can access any needed accommodations through disability services once you arrive on campus.
Good luck to you!
I failed every single class my senior year of high school except one that I needed to graduate and still got accepted to CLA. My ACT was around 29, prior GPA 3.6, volunteering, etc. I just decided to quit trying and I was on the admissions chopping block about to get my admission revoked up until the August before freshman year. I wouldn’t recommend you do this. I did a lot of remarkable extra credit activities that made up for it.
try the best you can and make you have done your best and there is nothing better you can do. Talk to your guidance counselor and ensure that the health issues are on record. At the end of the school year if you do badly and the university wants to revoke your admission you can get the guidance counselor to advocate for you. Also you can write a letter explaining that you had health . issues. inform your doctor of your worries. you might need your doctor to advocate for you. Most importantly try not to fail. At least get Cs or better. Remember you did not get ADHD just now. So you got the previous good grades with your ADHD. So Dont let the health issues stop you. Try really hard. You will be okay. You can do it. Believe it or not. The health issues you have do not define you. They can be overcome. Im the end you will be at the University of Minnesota shining
