University of Missouri in Columbia questions?

Is there student recreation center complex free if you're a student?

Any students/alumnis, overall how is the University of Missouri in terms of its city (columbia, mo)? is it one of those modern cities with good roads, lots to see, beautiful downtown area? or is it old?

How is the experience at MU? Are the teachers nice?

How tough is it to get in? They said you need at least a 24 ACT to apply. Would you have to get around a 26 or 27 to guarantee you a spot?

Columbia is great. A lot of the buildings are old, but in a charming way, not a janky, decrepit way. Lots of interesting things downtown, less so as you move outward, imo. Roads are decent.

My experience at MU was that it was impersonal and a bit like a human cattle drive. I got decent grades without showing up for class or really learning anything. Most of my teachers were nice, but they were often TA’s. I transferred to [Columbia College](<a href=“Start your college journey here | Columbia College”>http://www.ccis.edu/day/</a>) because I loved the town, but not the school, and I like Columbia College much better. Classes of 5-25 are better for me because I’d like to go to grad school, and I need letters of recommendation from actual professors who know me well to do that. Some people like it a lot though, and I heard they’re taking attendance using remotes now in some large lecture halls.

I don’t think you would need a 26 ACT to be guaranteed a spot. They’re predicting 36,000 incoming freshmen for 2012. If you meet the minimum admissions criteria, they’ll make room for you.
