My D has rec’d an offer for the BFA program and for many reasons, it’s a strong contender. I need to know if anyone else has had experience with the school. Ready, set, go! (Thank you)
My D didn’t apply because she wanted to be closer to a city. Which I think may have been a mistake. Her stepmoms sister is a vocal performance major that just graduated. Great training. Solid theatre program with some top talented grads that are performers(Rebecca Luker) to set builders (Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen). I have never attended a performance there, but I hear great things!
Hello,
I haven’t logged on to CC for about two years until today and found your recent question. It just so happens that my daughter is a junior at the University of Montevallo in AL. The academics are solid, the professors caring and the small town atmosphere is unique. The town and college are closely intermingled and there is a lot of community support. The FA program is excellent with a lot of personalized instruction. My D loves the school.
@Fifthinstructor thank you for that input. What is your daughter’s major?
@brightstaral do you have an idea of how opportunities are opened up to the BFA majors once they graduate?
I will also say that I know one of the professors there - Marcus Lane - he directed my daughter in a play when she was probably 8 or 9 years old - very nice and giving and a true professional.
@KPike320 I don’t. My D didn’t want to consider it as an option so we didn’t research MT there. I do know that her step aunt is auditioning and doing local theatre after graduating from Vocal Performance.
